I really wanna us SUN IN but my mom won't let me, my older sister had a bad experience with it and it turned her hair orange. My mom is letting me use lemon juice in my hair, does it really work? Please if you know any good ways to lighten my light brown hair(not color treated) PLEASE HELP!

Sun is is so damaging to your hair..It will literally ruin yuor hair...if you have light hair, lemon juice will make it a little lighter......I don't think it is strong enough to make it orange.

Well if you have blonde hair it will lighten it. Put some in a spray bottle and spray all over your hair then sit outside for about half and hour. Then wash it out and use extra conditioner so your hair doesnt dry out. You wont see results till its dry. And you have to do it a couple times before you will be able to tell. Do it like twice a week untill its blonde enough for you. It will work if you have light brown or medium brown hair too but if you have dark brown or black hair it wont give you a pretty color. I use lemon juice and it really works. if your going to hawaii this summer then use it cause the sun is really intense there.
~good luck!

Honey? If you are blonde, it does work really well. If you are brunette, it turns it orangish/red. I know. Sun mixed with lemon juice is very bad for turning brown hair orangish/red. By light brown, do you mean strawberry/dishwater blonde? I know darker brown hair will turn reddish or orange. Why don't you talk Mom into letting you just dye your hair? It really isn't as harmful to the hair as it used to be. What a sweet darling daughter/mom issue. LOL! Thanks for the smiles. BTW, I let my daughters do whatever they want with their hair. I figure they have to live with the result, not me...lol...hair dye is not as harmful as it used to be so I would go that way if you can talk Mom into it. Now, perms can be very damaging if not done right or left in too long but hair dye has come full circle. It is pretty safe and fun to change your hair color from time to time. :)

i've used lemon juice a ton, and it gives you some really nice blonde streaks. but, you have to stay in the sun for a really long time....and it doesn't work as well as SUN IN, but this won't turn your hair orange!!!

Yes it really does lighten your hair and make it very shiny... mix it in a spray bottle with equal amounts of water, spray in your wet hair and go out in the sun. Your hair will be stiff as it dries, but keep applying, be carefull not to get it in your eyes,,,, stings really bad !!!

Don't know the answer (although I suspect it lightens it), but it certainly makes it very shiny and silky. Try running a little bit of juice through a few strands of hair and then using your hot iron - shine, shine, shine

It does lighten your hair up, but it tends to dry your hair.

Lightening gel lights up your hair.
