Why is causal sex for a women such a taboo, but such a norm for a man? I don’t personally have causal sex because I have a long term relationship, but I don’t personally feel it should be something women should be judged upon so harshly and men so indifferently. My boyfriend said that he wouldn’t want a long-term relationship with a girl who had been ‘ around the block’, why do men think that girls who have been ‘ around the block’ are not good enough for long-term relationships?

they're both whorish. I wouldn't want a man who was careless with his body, his sexuality and other people.

First of all, a man with many partners is not acceptable, and many women find that gross. However, a man with many partners, most likely has had many partners because he is extremely charming, and has (or appears to have) many great qualities. So, many women will still get sucked into his charm. Now, the reason this is impressive is because of how hard women are to get.

Think about this, when a man and a woman are talking, a guy has to sell himself the best way he can. Men almost always have to give their low income job a very important professional sounding name (unless they are still going to school). However when a man asks a woman "What do you do", she could tell us she works at a fast food restaurant, and we'd still be attracted to her. I say this to point out that it is generally harder for a guy to impress a woman than it is for a woman to impress a guy.

If a woman has had many partners, how hard do you think that was to accomplish? All she has to say is "Let's go out back", and 8 times out of 10, a guy will gladly follow. Do you think it's that easy for a guy to do the same? If a guy said that to a woman, 8 times out of 10, he will get slapped!

Well, I have very mixed emotions on the matter. On the one hand, I think women shouldn't be called bad names or thought badly against, just because they choose to live promisquously, but I feel the only way this would happen, is if more women had more sex. But then my brainwashed thoughts come in and I start thinking, that wouldn't be such a great society, and I would hate if my sister was like that...

But there are already many women who can live that kind of lifestyle, and still be respected in a sense... I guess the thing it comes down to, is how you present yourself, and your own respect for your body. Generally, a girl who's slept around, more than likely has a low opinion of herself.... However there are women out there who have many partners and have a high opinion about herself, and are treated as such. I guess there's a big difference from being a sexual woman and being a... you know.

first, men or women can have all the casual sex they want as long as both (or more, i suppose) know that there are no strings attached. the taboo is unraveling.

your boyfriend's response is typical, seeing as how he is conditioned by the entertainment based learning culture. a last gasp by a patriarchal society to control women.

and i suppose some insecure men just don't want to feel like they might not measure up well.

and i suppose someone relatively astute may wonder if such an experienced woman will have lost some sense of the real intimacy that can be shared by people who truly care for each other. but of course, that would apply to men as well.

Lets suppose there is a girl who go around the block has got into relationship with some guy. Now if guy came to know that almost every friend of his has already done with his gf. Some people might annoy him as well. So it is very difficult for a man to believe on his gf that she will not do that again. He will surely thinks that maybe if he will be unable to satisfy her or if he cann't do it upto her desire, she will find another one so tell me why should men don't worry. And if you know a guy have too many friends, and you doubt that he might do it again while in relationship, how would you feel then.

I agree with Danny

Because there's the vague suspicion that the girl isn't "wired" right to be a wife and a mother if she has enjoyed sleeping around with multiple partners. At a very, very basic, biological level, females tend the choose one mate to meet their needs, and emotionally bond to that mate, a bond that helps create an environment for raising children. A woman's ability to form that bond is suspect if she has gone from partner to partner. I'm not saying this is a conscious decision on anyone's part -- just an unconscious, biological unease.

Plus, men like to be first :-)

Because they are stupid sexist morons, that believe every old stereotype and nonsense about women. The expectations are ridiculous, and women have equal rights to men. Everything else is a fairytale made up in their own minds. The people need to grow up, it's 2014 for crying out loud.

I feel the same way as your boyfriend when it comes to girls, but I don't think it should be a one way street, I could easily understand a girl not wanting to be with a guy whose like that.

But guys are a lot more possessive than girls, and they don't like the idea that lots of guys have been with their girlfriend.

A slut is a woman with the sexual attitude of a guy lol. Basically, because most guys are much less in control of themselves when it comes to sex than women, they have a lower standard expected of them. I mean, im pretty sure its no coincidence the VAST majority of "consumers" of the adult industry are male...GO US!!!

I have often wondered the same thing. Why women are whores or hoes when they have been with too many guys, but guys are "experienced" "pimps" "the man" when they have been with lots of women. Good question, hope there is a good answer.

Because women who have "casual sex" are mostly whores. No one wants a woman who slept with three and four men in her life, married or unmarried. That's nasty. I know a girl from Indiana who's slept with nearly twenty guys, and she takes pregnancy and "AIDS" tests often. Who wants a slut like that?
I don't.

I wonder the same thing. There are so few guys that live up to the standards of a "good girl".
