No. It simply says "In the begining, God created the heavens and the Earth." That's the first sentence of the Bible.

What is written is about the three Earth Ages. The First Earth age we were all very content and then Satan decided he wanted the throne and position of Christ, so he started a great war. After Satan was defeated, God destroyed that age that was (not the Earth, not the terrafirma, just the AGE was destroyed) and God brought in the Second Earth age, which is where we are now - the only reason we are here is because of that war - God wasn't too happy with many of us since a third followed Satan, and many more stayed neutral and didn't even care enough to take sides. Anyway, we are here to make an ultimate decision of who we would follow.
The third and final of the Earth ages will come in after the great judgment. That Earth age will be final, eternity.
Thats it in a nutshell. Thats whats written.
Many, many people think that when they read Genesis 1, they are reading of God's first creation of this Earth, but its far from it. Its the description of God rejuvinating the earth to ready it for flesh habitation after the great war and the destruction of the last Earth Age. The very first creation of the Earth is held in one verse: Genesis 1:1 "In the Beginning".
Thats what we know, and obviously it doesn't say when that beginning was. The manuscripts do not say that the Earth
WAS void and without form (God doesn't create things already in destruction) but instead whats actually written is that the Earth BECAME VOID AND WITHOUT FORM.
Why did the Earth become that way? The destruction after the war when Satan rebelled in the first Earth Age.

The bible talks about the "New Heavens"...But the bible doesn't say that new heavens were created after the earth.......all we know is that there was a good deal going on in heaven before the earth was formed...

It just says (sorry, I don't remember where, but it may be Mark) that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. I am told that this was a reference to Jesus. There is a Hebrew letters thing you can do where you add one letter to the name for God in Hebrew and you get the name of Jesus.

Please don't call this a stupid answer, but perhaps the word was OM, at least metaphorically. That is, in the absence of anyone to say the word to, the word would not mean much. So God created the world in order to have someone to speak to. I mean, it must be pretty boring being God with nothing to look at, talk to, play with, whatever God does with the universe.

Well, the idea of God in the way I think you're using it isn't exactly something we can understand, but if it contradicts itself, it cannot be. It does not make any kind of sense that God would have the desire to create something, being an entity without desires, nor that it would change, being an unchanging entity. I don't believe this definition of God is functional, so I reject it. Once rejected, I can answer your question with: not applicable.

I am open to different concepts of God, though...

I'm not sure the bible says anything about it, but it has been the topic of philisophical debate.

According to one school of thought, God existed...but has only become aware of himself as God through the creation and developement of the universe (including us).

The Bible is silent as to god's background or qualifications to be god. But he/she must have spent a lot of time as custodian of the galaxies and universe in general.

No, it just says that He always was .
He was probably alone and therefore made Adam and Eve to have someone to talk to.
