It strikes me as ridiculous that a guy weighing a few pounds over 190 should be forced to fight other men in the same division who might weigh in excess of 300 lbs. The smaller weight classes are ridiculously close in a division where knockouts are far less common. Would anyone be in favor of a super heavyweight division and a redefining of the existing weight classes to better reflect the size of the modern man.

First, let me kindly correct you. The heavyweight division no longer starts at above 190 pounds. It was recently moved up to over 200 pounds.

Believe it or not, six or seven pounds make a difference in performance. I can relate to it, because I've sparred as a super middleweight (168), which is my comfortable weight, but there was one time that I dropped to just middleweight (160) and I felt terrible. My punches and stamina did not feel up to par.

I don't think the divisions should be messed with at all, especially the idea of adding a super heavyweight division. It's not necessary, because there have been smaller heavyweights who have floored or knocked out bigger heavyweights. Also, the addition of a super heavyweight division would just make an add-on to divisions that would no longer be popular, because those who would be considered heavyweights under the new division weight limits would simply move up in weight to attempt to concour the new super heavyweight division. Therefore the heavyweight division would be just like what the cruiserweight division is now. Oh, and if you thought the cruiserweight division was bad, just imagine how it would be if the super heavyweight class was added.

First if you weigh 190 you are going to fight in the limited weight class of the cruiserweights, the most ignored class there is I think. Heavyweights probably should be divided into heavy and super heavy at somewhere around 250.

Heavyweights are considered the highest honor of boxing champion and is not limited to any weight, whether you are 112 pounds or 312 pounds, the heavyweight division is unlimited. Rocky Marciano was 185 pounds when he won the title.

Lose the Super middle weight and Cruiser weight divisions because they are not needed.

There is not need for a super heavy weight division for the same reason Woody said.

Yes your right they should have a
Crusierweight Division - 175 - 210
Heavyweight Division - 210 - 238
Super Heavyweight Division - 238 and over.

To compensate for the larger framed and heavier and bigger athletes.

I would say there are too many weight classes with very little weight disparities. Think we should revert back to the original 8 weight classes.

no..because a man weighting over 200 pounds can still knock out a man who is 250 or 300....
