Microwaving leaches vitamins, but sometimes it's the only choice.
Best thing to do is to score the squash with a knife and put the squash in a paper bag with a teaspoon or so of additional water.
Microwave on high for a minute or two, then on power 7 for 3 minutes or so. Check it after every 3 minutes of microwaving to see if it is done.
Good luck!

Yes cut it up into bite size pieces and put it in a micro safe bowl with a little water on the bottom.
You don't need too much water because the squash has lots of water in it and sort of self steams itself.
Probably it gets soggy from cooking too long.
There is a new plastic cooking bag out, I just got a sample in the mail yesterday. You steam food in it in the micro without water. Haven't used it yet.

Hey I love squash steamed in the micro.. Have done it lots of times. Put a little water and slice your squash and test it after 4 min. Remember to put a lid on your dish. Taste good to me. Just try it.

I do not slice my squash. Instead I poke one or two holes in the squash with a toothpick, roll it up in a paper towel and microwave it 4-6 min depending on size.

Slice up squash, salt, pepper, and 1 or 2 cloves of FRESH, minced garlic. You don't really need water, just cook on high for 1-2 minutes (or longer if you are cooking a large amt.) Even better with some sliced zucchini and diced fresh tomatoes. Can add a little basalmic vineger if desired.
