When she's sobbing do something funny to make her laugh, and tell her shes blessed, people go in for surgeries worst that. Removal of cancer which can be deadly, tumors, brain surgery, removal of an infected limb, so there's plenty of surgeries that can be worst or deadly. Knee surgery is a simple procedure that millions of Americans have all the time. Just say a little pray for her daily ,also tell your mom the doctor's can prescribe "volumes" to ease her nerves before the surgery. Also go places to make her feel better because after the surgery she has to stay in and recover. Good Luck!

maybe she's worried about not being able to get around and do for herself afterwards - reassure her that you'll all pitch in to look after her until she's back on her feet. Seriously though, it's just knee surgery - there are so many more serious things it could be - her recovery will go a lot better if she's not wasting a bunch of energy having herself a pity party...

Well my aunt not too long ago had the sort of performed so i do know what to do! Your suppost to get a million or two days of complete leisure! Then after that on a daily basis she demands to do a few laps up and down the dwelling room or whatever. Then check out lifting her knees up! All this may ultimately support it to think bigger and mover round extra!

I had knee surgery and the only person there that consoled me through the pain was my father. He told me that this will be the past not the future. You know what, he was right.

Please try to not upset yourself about this. She sounds unable to cope. What if she had Cancer.? Anyway, I dont think there is anything you can do except maybe get out for a while. You will be busy enough I bet when she is recovering and having you do errands for her . Just give her a big hug and tell her shell be fine.

Let her know that you will be there for her during and after surgery. She may be scared she won't be able to get around by herself after surgery so make sure she knows she won't be alone.

Just tell her you will be there for her, and do the best you can to fill her shoes while she's getting better, and not to worry because you love her.
