The perception of pain is a very personal, individualized thing. You could take 100 average-build 15-year-old girls and a 100 muscular-built 15-year-old guys, give them all leg cramps and ask them to describe their pain levels, and you will probably get 200 different answers. On a scale of 1 to 10, what pain I rate as a 6 might feel like a 3 to someone else, or a 9 to another person. Gender has very little to do with it.

Hope this helps.

I think it also depends on the amount of pain a person can handle. Some can get punched in the face (just an example) and take it, others would bawl or pass out. As far as how much muscle, I think the more you have, the more it would hurt, because there's more space along the bone that's getting pulled at.

i don't really think it matters. it has more to do with hydration and potassium than it does with muscle mass. however, my husband, who is overweight but has no fat on his legs which are extremely muscular, gets horrific night leg cramps. his are due to low potassium and not enough water in his system.
