does it bother you when people pay with a debit card for a small purchase? Is it more work for you? I never have cash but always feel bad.

Nope, actually it's less work for us at Kroger. We don't have to touch the card, no money to mess with. It's great. We wish everyone used debit cards.
Don't feel bad, it's not any extra work.

I wonder if enough people are using cards to the point that people forget how to count change. Recently, I went to lunch with some friends. I forgot my wallet (I laid it down when I wanted to take some Tylenol before leaving and I don't know why I didn't just put it in my pocket...) and a friend lent me some money (which I promptly repaid that evening). The waitress shorted me fifty-odd cents. I'm sorry. If you seem to have difficulty counting change with the help of a computer, then you don't get much of a tip.

My husband returned some items at an everything's a dollar store and wanted to buy some more. Well, he was using the returned items as credit to his new purchases, and had the difference out and ready. I guess the cashier (I was not there when this happened) couldn't figure out the difference, and I guess even the manager had trouble. Oy.

I only use one of our cards because my husband can use the points for schoolbooks if he buys them through that site. (Our card is paid in full every month, so I guess even with the interest he thinks it's worth it.) Also, I use the self checkouts as well. This way I can bag my own groceries the way I want to in my own bags. (I reuse paper bags and a nice big canvas bag I have as well. I HATE plastic bags.)

Anyway, I digress.

Nope.. I would rather deal with debit or credit cards then cash. This way is straight forward. With cash, you always get either really big bills for a small amount, or you get the people that as soon as you ring it through and are getting their change, their like " oh... I have the 30 cents!" Grr...

no, it doesn't bother me because I do the same thing! LOL If you don't have cash, well, you don't have it! So it's fine to use it for .25-300.00 dollars. Don't feel bad. What does vex me a bit is when someone pays with LOOSE change, like 20 dollars worth, that is what takes the most time!

Oh this is the killer right here! They have a whole heap of stuff and say "Oh you know I only came with 20 dollars!" Then I have to void out stuff they do not want and make copies of all of those voids!

People PLEASE if you know you have a certain amount with you , put the equivalent in your freakin cart!

I worked as a cashier before I preferred debit cards actually less work doesn't really matter to the cashier they are more annoyed when people put their money on the counter instead of their hand

Only feel bad for the company, which has to pay a fee for each credit/debit transaction. It's usually easier for the cashier, who goes from having to make change to just having to push a couple of buttons.

No bother to me. I work at Starbucks and all the purchases are small like that. Also, it helps so I do not have so much cash and am less prone to error in my accounting.

I ALWAYS feel badly too!

When I did work as a cashier, I didn't mind interac / credit card that much because it gave me a little breather...but I hated it when you'd be waiting for an idiot customer to figure out how to work the bloody thing! ARGH! That still drives me nuts...it's not brain surgery!!!

it doesnt bother me because i never used to carry cash on me. it actually creates less work for me at work(a c-store) because then i dont have to open my register and give change. with our new system they dont even have to sign so they can just make sure their card is approved and go.
