This is a good bill if you are an illegal immigrant.
It grants amnesty for jumping to the head of the line.
To work here an illegal immigrant must:
-forge documents
-committ identity theft
-break immigration law

1. there is nothing about a stronger border, it only says that they will hire more border patrol agents. Big deal, they did not have power to stop the illegals from entering anyway.
2. they already have a work plan with the same requirements as they would have had with the new bill--only not a large fine. (they do have smaller fees for applying, renewing)
3. they already have work cards that can be renewed, they are just not following the rules, they would not have followed the new rules in the bill anyway.
No the bill was not really good for them. The head of household would still have to return home and reapply correctly and wait in line. Then the rest of the family would be here poor and we would just have to pay higher taxes for the families with no income during the time the head of household was gone.

No, it is definitely a bad bill. The Federal government will not enforce current law. What makes anyone believe they will enforce the Law after the bill is passed. Once the Democrats get what they want. A large influx to their voting ranks. They could careless about the enforcement side of the debate. It just more votes for the Dem's to a three to one ratio. If not more! Democrats could not get a majority with the legal citizenry. So they decided to do an end around the political process and cultivate these votes the only way Dem's see to get that majority. Doing a disservice to the rest of the legal citizens here. Our political process and America. Should be called The Democrats sell out bill. If it was not for Republican it would of passed. So who is the real party of the American people.
Peace!!! Love!!! Health!!! Well-being!!!

1) it does almost nothing to strengthen the border
2) how about a work plan for legal Americans first?
3) benefits are ALREADY given. Every day. Come to Texas sometime and try to get free healthcare in an emergency room if you don't believe me. And, look at the people who DO get free healthcare.
Try again.
This bill is crap. Plain and simple. It is not about helping America or illegals. It's about helping rich, greedy corporations and erasing national borders.

It kept changing in the details, but, it was an Amnesty Bill, and Amnesty is proven to increase, not curtail, illegal immigration. You just have to be able to remember back to 1986 to know that.
The scam was the same this time as then. Amnesty now, in return for enforcement, later. The enforcement, like the enforcement of current laws, never being delivered.

It was not for granting citizenship. THey would have had to go through a long 15-20 year period so they can actually become citizens.
So, it was not like they were going to get US citizenship the minute Bush signed it.
But other than that, I agree with what you have said.

In 1986 a similar bill was passed,in it senators like Ted Kennedy promised border security, stiff fines for work places that hire illegals ( Sound familiar?) after it passed instead of raising the number of border patrol agents, they took their power away, two border patrol agents are now in prison for shooting at an illegal who was bringing in drugs,if they didn't keep their promise then, what makes you think they'll keep their word now,we don't need a new bill, all we need is to enforce what is already a law.

A good bill? NO.
The bill would give illegal aliens a free meal ticket. Rewarding criminals for breaking the law isn't a good thing. Deportation should begin shortly :)

No, it is a rotten bill, and a lot of the worst parts are in the 'boilerplate' the press didn't bother to read, much less comment on.
Start over.
(PS, you don't quite have the description right, but if it is dead, it doesn't really matter.)
