Do you find the Sunsilk Color Showdown offensive? I do!!

The blondes are all glammed up and in a hair salon and they say at the end, "Brunettes...at least your mom thinks your pretty."
I know its a STUPID commercial, but I have very low self esteem. I hate how I look and stuff so its like they are saying guys like blondes better and brunettes should be shunned.

And in the brunette one, it said, "Blondes, I guess you will just have to wear shorter skirts now" Id rather be called a sIut than be called ugly.

Do you find it offensive?
What do you think of the commercial?

I am brunette, and I think in general brunettes are prettier. More exotic looking. Maybe it's because that is what I am! It is a little offensive, but there are bigger fish to fry. If it makes you feel better, write the company and tell them how you feel. So what if it doesn't make them stop playing the commercials. I think that it is sad that you know you have low self esteem. I'm sure that you have a lot of great things about you. I believe that we should all focus on on strengths.....none of us are perfect, and even the prettiest girls can give a list of things that they would change. Take pride in what god gave you.

I'm sure if I were a brunettes I would be very offended. But I am a blonde and how do you think it makes me feel when they say " Well at least us brunettes can read." Or anything else. I also know that people think that Blondes are the dumb ones, and brunettes are smart ones, but that is sooo not true. I think that all brunette, and blonde jokes are mean to judge someone by their hair color ♥♥ Julie

To me it is just a commercial and it will only get to you if you let it. You should never base your self confidence on a commercial that people are trying to sell stuff. They are just trying to sell the color and get at peoples goats. They sell that way. Most commercials are "Stupid".

I don't watch much television. Did you know that Marilyn Monroe was a size 14? Everyone loved her even though most people think they need to be a size zero.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

honestly, you need to stop taking things so personally. Those are just silly stereotypes that they used to make the comercial funny. Look at angelina jolie, tyra banks, adrianna lima, and all the brunettes that are considered just as hot if not hotter than blondes. Hair color isn't the only thing that makes you attractive. And as for your self-esteem, i know this sounds corny and cliche, but just try and be comfortable with the way you are. if you want to improve on yourself that's fine, but don't do it for others do it to make yourself feel better. stop worrying about stereotypes because not all blondes are sluts and obviously not all brunettes are ugly.

Do you need the media to think for you?

I've been brunette and blonde, it's just a freakin hair colour. People do react to you differently, but that's there ignorant problem. I'm going to dye my hair green with pink polka dots. See how Sunsilk markets that.

If this is the only commercial out there that offends you, then good for you! Honey, everyone says junk like that all the time, and it's all for show. Please don't take this stuff personally--there are plenty of ways to make your self-confidence lower out there. For me, it's always the commercials or movies about skinny-*** girls who always find a man. I'm bigger--does that mean I'll never find love? Hell no! It's all propoganda.
Stop worrying about things being offensive--that's television!

No I don't find it offensive. It's a commercial based on the comedy of stereotypes. I'm a red head. Imagine the names I get called. But that doesn't mean I'm going to get low self esteem over them. Life is too short to be upset over these things. :)

well, considering sluts ARE ugly then well there's not really a difference.

i dont really find it offensive because at least they're like "even" or whatever.
at least blondes arent the ones making fun of brunnettes all the time in the commercials that show.

i have to admit (being a blonde) that this commercial is pretty offensive. however, most of my friends are brunettes and they are probably some of the prettiest girls i've ever seen, so i dont take it very seriously, and i would advise you not to pay that much attention to it. what they're saying is rude shouldnt be on tv.

That's pretty dumb finding it offensive. It's just a commercial wanting you to buy their shampoo and conditioner. Some people like them, some don't. Plus the brand works really well.
