He said very plainly "I am the Son of God"

Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are gods'? If he called them 'gods,' to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken— what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, 'I am God's Son'?

John 10:34-36

His Father confirmed this personally on the Mount of Transfiguration:

"After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah."
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" "

Matthew 17:1-5

In the Book of Revelation, we see the citizens of heaven worshipping the Lamb (Jesus) and "Him who sits on the throne" (the Father):

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they sang:
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!"
Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing:
"To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!" The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.

Jesus forgave sins while on earth. It was stated that "only God can forgive sins!", by the Pharisees. So, Jesus healed in order to show His authority.

When asked He was a king, He replied "Yes". When a man came and called Him "good", He asked, "Why do you call me 'good' for only God is good", but did not deny or refuse the man's declaration. When the soldiers came to capture Jesus, He asked who they wanted - they said, "Jesus of Nazareth", to which He relied, "I am He" - some have said this is the same "I Am" as was said to Moses when he asked, "Who shall I say sent me?" This is likely why the soldiers "drew back and fell to the ground".(John 18:4-6).

Prophecies talk of the Messiah as being God. In Isaiah it says, "And He will be called, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

There are many claims of Jesus being God. Otherwise, where would anyone get the idea? If He was seperate, it would say so.

To understand who Jesus said he was, try reading
- John 6:61 - 66
- John 7:27 - 29
- John 8: 12 -19
- John 8:54 - 58
- John 12:44 - 50 (here he says "believe in me")

Additionally as someone earlier pointed out the words "I am" were said using a term that is used only to refer to God. God is Himself quoted as saying this in the old testament.

Jesus is God. At John 10:36, h called himself God's Son. Misinformed people think Jesus was calling himself God at John 8:58. If that were true (which it isn't), then he contradicted himself at John 17:3, where he called his Father the ONLY true God.

The expression at John 8:58 is quite different from the one used at Exodus 3:14. Jesus did not use it as a name or a title but as a means of explaining his prehuman existence. Hence, note how some other Bible versions render John 8:58:

1869: “From before Abraham was, I have been.” The New Testament, by G. R. Noyes.

1935: “I existed before Abraham was born!” The Bible—An American Translation, by J. M. P. Smith and E. J. Goodspeed.

1965: “Before Abraham was born, I was already the one that I am.” Das Neue Testament, by Jörg Zink.

1981: “I was alive before Abraham was born!” The Simple English Bible.

1984: “Before Abraham came into existence, I have been.” New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

Thus, the real thought of the Greek used here is that God’s created “firstborn,” Jesus, had existed long before Abraham was born.—Colossians 1:15; Proverbs 8:22, 23, 30; Revelation 3:14

Jesus never claimed to be God. Not only did he say that his Father was the only true God, but at John 14:28, he said: "The Father is greater than I am.

When his followers bowed down to him, did they think he was God? NO! Matt. 14:32, 33 says: "And after they got up into the boat, the windstorm abated. 33 Then those in the boat did obeisance to him, saying: “You are really God’s Son."

Jesus said of Himself that He was God. He applied the name of God, "I AM," to Himself in several passages. Here's a few examples: Matthew 14:27, Mark 6:50, Mark 13:6, Luke 21:8, John 4:26, John 6:20, John 8:24, 28, 58, and John 13:19. (Some English translations have mistranslated the words "I am" to "It is I," or "I am He.")

Jesus received worship, which is reserved only for God:

"Then the men in the boat began to worship Jesus, saying, "You certainly are the Son of God!" (Matthew 14:33)

"Suddenly Jesus met them and said, "Greetings!" They went up to him, took hold of his feet, and worshiped him." (Matthew 28:9)

"They worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy." (Luke 24:52)

"He said, "Lord, I do believe," and worshiped him." (John 9:38)

"I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea, and everything that is in them, saying, "To the one who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise, honor, glory, and power forever and ever!" Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!", and the elders bowed down and worshiped." (Revelation 5:13-14)

Also, Jesus forgave sins. The Pharisees were correct when they asked, "Who can forgive sins but God alone?" (Mark 2:7) And yet Jesus did that several times.

Joh 8:57 So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"
Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am."
Joh 8:59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

The law was:
Lev 24:16 Whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.

One of the only reasons allowed for this action.

That I AM is the words ego emi. Which is YHWH, the name of God that was given to Moses in Exodus 3:14.

Jesus said he was God.

While those words do not appear as you quoted, Jesus did not deny it when He was accused of "making himself one with God".

Also, while He didn't say "worship me", He DID accept worship from those who recognized Him as He was, the Son of the Living God, thereby establishing that He is worthy of praise.

He said: "I AM the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me".

He also said: "I AM the gate..."

Bottom line: You either believe His Word or you don't.

Just read the Bible..but, not the JW's Bible..it has been translated differently to support their beliefs. Read the Bible and see what you think..
When one says that Jesus is God..What they mean is that Jesus..has God in him..God is still the most powerful God, the only one Almighty God in heavens, who created heavens and earth..But, he himself is in Jesus his son..and when Jesus died for us, and we believe and have faith in him..When we accept him as our Savior..then we too have God living in us..his Holy Spirit with helps us spread the gospel for all..Its the Deity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit..

Jesus himself never said he was God, however in John 10:30 he said I and my father are one. In John 1:1-14 talks about Jesus being God,in the flesh. Also in 1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Jesus never specifically said to in those words to worship me, however he does say Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Jhn 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
But with this scripture we go back to the previous part of this stating that God and Jesus are the self same people one in spirit and one in flesh.

Well 2000 years ago they didn't have tape records.

you can't believe anything written unless you confirmed it with your own eyes.

Also no one lives 2000 years, so no eye witnesses either.

how do you know that there ever was a Jesus? have you ever seen a gravesite with a marker saying Jesus? If that were true and there was a grave, then it would most likely be empty, because 2000 years went by and the corpse would be disintegrated anyway.
