christians most common answer is ''becuz i feel it in my heart'' or ''because the bible says..." which does not prove a point because their is no conclusive evidence that the bible is truthful. which makes that evidence inaccurate. basically christians are usually taught everything they ''know'' at birth and if their parents took them to a place where they worshipped santa claus they'd believe that too. therefore they do not think for themselves and refuse to accept anything else.
Atheist also, are more free lance about things and chooses to believe things that can be seen or proven as possible. and accepting that technology and medicine is what saves lives, not a supernatural pixie. (sorry) while christians still pray for god praising him when medicine works but yet it is not His fault when someone dies. theres a verse for everything in the bible to be explained according to them and its simply much easier to pull it out of a text. To prove anything form praising slavery ‘honor your master’ to rejecting it. However, atheist come off as a bit angry and bitter sometimes which concerns me also. This country is a majority Christian country and most crime is committed by Christians, more so as war, and things of that sort. You can praise god for all kinds of things until you run out of breathe, but things in this world are not done unless they are made or done men, medicine, and science. Those things are what keeps this world going, not a God.
This is simply opinion.

God revealed Himself to me at a time when it was totally unexpected and in a way I did not then know was possible.
He has been proving Himself to me now for over 36 years.

Because my belief (Atheism) is based on logic, reasoning and critical thinking. I may not have all the answers yet, but at least a have a strong, sturdy foundation laid in science and technology in wish to base my beliefs.
Religious people do not have this. All they have is faith, witch is nothing more than a wish, a hope and and empty desire for something to be true. No logic. No reasoning. No critical thinking. No foundation.
Outside of faith all they have is a 2000 year old book that has recently been shown to be made up and falsified by translators and scribes over hundreds of years. (Read Misquoting Jesus)
What ticks me off about Christians is that they are so willing to write their lives off to a sky fairy without even a single question, and then take that belief and try to shove it down MY throat.

My primary field of interest is in neuroscience. I hold a BA in Psychology and a BS in Computer Science. My primary field of research within neuroscience is the study and development of fractal-genetic topography neural networks, often with quantum noise added to the network.
In my studies, I have found absolutely no evidence of psychological dualism, and sufficient evidence of psychological monism. As such, free will becomes impossible. Our existence is stochaistic, if global variables in QM do not exist, or deterministic if global variables in QM do exist.
The absence of free will denies all forms of theism.
Admittedly, this does leave deism unscathed. A universe lacking free will is well compatible with the 'Blind Watchmaker'. However, as deism is consequentally identical to atheism, I consider Occam's Razor sufficient principle (not proof) to dismiss/discard deism.
That's how I know that not only does Yahweh not exist, but NO revealed deity of any pantheon or religion, exists. All theistic religions are, at their core, false.

I think that you can ask this question a million times, and your going to get the same answer you always get. If your just on here to give your opinion, then you did it successfully.
All I can say is that yes I was raised in a house where my mother took me to church every sunday, but always told me to make sure that it was what I beleived and not just told to beleive. My father is a total Science guy. He doesn't beleive in God and only went to church with us on Easter and Christmas. I went through a time when I had to find the truth for myself since I am in love with science myself. God is what I found. You can say it is false, but you asked a question and this is how I know. Because I feel him in my bones, soul and mind. He put his truth in me before I was born and that is what brings me to him everyday. I know it is hard to understand, and I don't expect anyone who isn't out looking for him to ever get it, but thats the answer and that is the truth.
Be atheist if you want, I had a choice and so do you.

I will give a somewhat scientific explanation although not proof by any means. Most scientists believe that there are at least ten dimensions that make up our universe, are four that we see plus many others. It seems arrogant and shortsighted to think that there aren't beings living in all ten of these dimensions that would basically be gods to us. But maybe not.

Religion, its' genesis, and its' history are just way to contrived and self serving. It's the easy way out of living life without the reality.
God and religion for the reality challenged.

I am a Weak or Agnostic Atheist.
I don't know god doesn't exist, I just don't believe.
The reason is because there is no evidence to believe.

Burden of proof is on the person making the claim.
Otherwise you would have to believe in EVERYTHING anybody came up with.
