I'm looking into a woman named Carrie Woods, who I think may be Carrie W. Harris. (I believe Woods may be her maiden name thanks to someone here) she'd be born in Ohio around 1865, and she had a son Hubert (Harris) there in about 1888. She had other children but they were born in Ny and Canada. I'm trying primary to find out about her family, but I haven't been able to find anythin :( Can anyone see if they can find anything for me?

She was probably married by 1880-2. Her husband has been listed as James ,James Oscar, and Oscar Harris of Sandy Creek, Oswego, New York. Some of there children were Kenerson, Hattie/Harriett, Hubert, Arthur, Frances, William/Willis, Ora, Harry. More information forthcoming so please check back! I've been having a particularly hard time with this family, but people in yahoo answers have been so much help to me. States associated with this family (and provinces..) are Ontario, New York (Erie and Oswego counties), Vermont and Ohio. Any help or thoughts?!

You'll just have to dig. Ya never know what little tidbits you can find or discover you already have. familysearch.org had a Carrie W Woods born 15 NOV 1862 North Lewisburg, Champaign, OH, died 24 MAY 1948 but I dunno when yours died. I'd more expect to find a Lake Erie coastal county.

Do you know, Carrie's ancestors may have sailed up Erie to Huron to Superior to give credibility to WI roots and some of those WI settlers did indeed go to Dakota Territory so Wyoming's not entirely out of reach either if Carrie's mom's father was one of those guys always on the move. Many early OH settlers were from VA as well. She could have been confused about place and rattled off whatever came to mind.

Have you picked up anything from the addresses where they lived 1900 at 69 Navel Ave, or 1910 where he built boats at home, 122 Baxter St at Buffalo? mapquest.com

James, have been digging familysearch this afternoon, and there are many Carrie Wood/ Woods in that time frame, in 1880.
My suggestion is to DROP BACK to most recent, which would be her death, and any record of that. You do have her still living in 1930, and I am betting she died in that area. I really think you absolutely need more 'current' info (closer to death) that may show the name of one or more parents. It would be worth gold if there is an obit for her, with name of a male sibling (ok, will settle for any sibling).
Without that, we are getting real close to a game of dart throwing.
