A sty is caused when bacteria gets trapped inside the tear duct or in an eyelash follicle. For the most part, they are harmless, but do not touch it or itch your eye to limit the spread of germs. Try to gently clean the area with a q-tip and warm water to help clear the sty. You can also apply a warm compress to your eye to help speed up to healing process. Do not wear any eye makeup.

The help prevent stys, remember to wash your hands before rubbing you eye or before any other contact. Also make sure to throw away make-up that is older than 6 months to avoid bacteria spreading into your eye.

Do you wear contact lenses? New lense wearer or switch to the wear all the time for a week then toss? If this is so you may have GPC. It just means you are allergic to the lenses. Switch to daily disposables and ask eye doctor about over-the-counter antihistamine eye drops.

it's a sty most likely. more than likely it will start to hurt. wash it regularly with baby shampoo and warm water. if it gets too bad, put warm compresses on it several times a day for 10 or minutes at a time. if it doesn't get better, go to a physician.

It sounds like a sty to me; it's an infection of a hair follicle. It would be a good idea to go to your doctor and get antibiotic eyedrops to treat it; they can become very painful if left untreated.
