This is a serious question, coming from a strong Christian. I've seen many of the questions on here, and the answers. Everyone is attacking each other. It especially disappoints me when I see Christians attacking athiests. You're sure giving them a reason to want to be part of our religion, aren't you? God called us to spread His Word, but He also called us to respect people with different beliefs and religions than ours. It upsets me to see that many Christians aren't doing this. You're giving Christians a terrible reputation. Not all Christians are like that, but people, especially athiests, don't get the chance to see that if all you do is attack them. Why would they want to be a part of that? Any answers or opposing views are appreciated.

Do you like it when your faith is being trashed by those who have only one agenda on this site. That is to paint God as a sky daddy, monster and the Holy Bible as a fairytale book. This happens nearly every week on this site. Christians shouldn't be passive and let this happen without voicing their displeasure in some way. Christianity is about God's love and faith but there are times when Christians must not be silent against those who try to contaminate the weak in the faith with their false views. We sometimes must be firm but always loving.

Jesus was meek but never weak against his accusers. He drove them out of his temple with righteous indignation because they were buying and selling in his holy temple(hhouse of prayer). Christ would not be silent in the midst of their overt sins. He was strong and took a strong stand against their corruption. I would hope that we all can agree to disagree, but christians cannot afford to be to passive against strong attacks from those who sole purpose is to discredit Christianity. Be strong in the Lord. John 3:16. Remember evil triumphs because good people say nothing.

Doesn't Ur last question give U Pause to consider what U just said??? Why ARE They Here??? Last I looked, this Site is Titled "R&S" isn't it??? Very few come here to ask Legitimate questions. Those who do get (to the best of our ability) our best courteous Answers!!! Most come here however to simply Degrade & Challenge Gods' Holy Word. Why??? Now I ask U, didn't God Order the Complete Destruction of Other Peoples because of their Contrary Beliefs??? Even one of the Jewish Tribes, Benjamin, was almost Totally Destroyed (Judges 20:28)??? Our "Religion", which one is that??? Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic??? Christianity is a Personal Relationship with Christ, NOT a "Religion", that can ONLY Occur with a Desire (Guided by the H.S.) to Learn / Listen to the Gospel & Act upon it in Faith!!! So like is that what they are here for??? Have they been guided here by the H.S.??? Christians are to simply Deliver the Gospel & then let the H.S. do his work of Conviction. I think a look at the Facts concerning Christian Posts Versus Atheist Posts will show that there are Many More Deliberately Antagonistic Questions towards Christians ASKED, than towards Atheists. I Personally do not believe that Ur "Wide Brush Painting" of me as part of "Everyone is attacking each other." is True, as I Have Never even Made a Post here! Having made about 600 answers though, it has been my Impression, that we are Supposed to Answer in Truth which is why I back it up with Scripture Most of the time!!! So, again I ask, Why are those who supposedly do not believe in God, Continuously coming here to R&S a Site devoted to "Religion & Spirituality"??? Respectfully, John

I'm a Christian, but I don't feel the need to attack atheists....nor do I want to give them a reason to be part of any "religion" if it means having the attitude of a Pharisee. God is a god of hearts. Forgiveness, compassion, mercy, and grace are qualities Christians should show to the world. YES, sometimes we are called to confront others about their sin - but we are to do it in a non-judgmental way, as Jesus did, and we are not to do it on our own (i.e. based on our "feelings") The Holy Spirit will prompt us...

I prefer to encourage a relationship with the Lord. Jesus didn't judge those He walked among on earth, so I certainly don't have a right to judge anyone. That is GOD'S job alone. Besides, I'm certainly not perfect, so I'm not QUALIFIED to judge anyone else...

But I know what you mean. I think it may have something to do with the level of (or lack of) spiritual maturity. Walking in love doesn't come naturally...Christians have to learn to CHOOSE to do it.

What do you base your statement that God called us to respect people with different beliefs and religions than ours on? I'm not disagreeing, or agreeing with you, but it's not clear what you see as being an attack on athiests, and there are many attacks on atheists but there are also clear warnings which are viewed as unloving by many who hold to the modern gospel, which is a different gospel than that once delivered which we are to contend for.

>I believe in my God and savior whole heartedly. I've felt his presence in some of the roughest times of my life and he kept my family from falling to pieces. No, you felt an emotion you attribute (without evidence) to the presence of a god. >I've heard the argument before that there can't b a god because there had to be something to begin with...what came before the pea sized bit that's now the universe? How did it get there (if the big bang is true)? When you don't know, admitting it is better - both intellectually and morally - to claiming to know. >There are no scientific laws that disprove Christianity We know the bible's creation myth is just that. >Did you know that human bodies are made of dust (scientifically proven) and that's what the bible days we are made of. Nonsense. Dust is mostly dead skin cells. >Did you know the bible says "the sphere of the earth" before we discovered the earth was round? Nonsense. It says "circle". As in 2-D shape.

No, actually he doesn't call us to respect people with other beliefs. Love thy neighbor as thyself. You respect people because they are people. Any attacking being done in the name of Christianity truly isn't Christian. The people who claim to be really aren't and are kind of missing the point.

I agree, I think it's people having fun more than anything. I notice both Athiests and Christians basically ask each other the same questions over and over again every day. Christians and Athiests simply enjoy debating and teasing each other...or maybe some people have personal vendettas. Who knows?

The Christians (some of them) attack EVERYONE on here. I've been called stupid among other names in the religious section and I have NEVER said anything disrespectful or rude to them. I'm not Atheist, I'm Muslim. We worship the same God and share the same prophets. I don't understand it. I just pray for those who attack others based on their differences in belief.

edit: why the thumbs down people?

I know I don't attack. If I am addressing someone of another faith, I always say--but the choice is up to you. We need to let people realize that they do have free will but their are consequences to their actions. So I don't pretend like I don't know the dangers or not following God, but I don't push off on others either.

because christians are standing on shaky ground when it comes to their beliefs, they have so many inconsistancies that they have to constantly defend or lose face, and it's the athiests, using nothing more than simple reasoning that has put them in this untenable position. so basically, christians have power, athiest don't want them to have power, athiests are a theat to christians power, so christians have to attack athiests to protect their power.
it's kinda like it's 1870, and you owned the only horse and buggy shop in town, and business is great, then you you wake up one morning and it's 1905, and there are car dealers across the street, you are going crazy trying to defend your business, you do everything you can think of, except face reality, because horse buggies are all you've ever known, and you are to old to adapt
