A lot of times we accuse Christianity of being irrational.

We all have our quirks though. What is the most irrational thing that YOU believe?

I, for one, don't step on cracks on the sidewalk.

Irrational, yes, but my body believes that if I don't have my neck and feet covered when I'm sleeping, the vampires and monster under the bed will get me. =0)

I'll never understand why abortion ever became legal. Abortion is irrational.

Being on a lighter note, when in a cemetery, I will not walkl over the deceased. I respect the dead and I walk between the tombstones and try to walk by their feet. My son thinks it's the stupidiest thing because they are dead and buried and have no idea that I am walking there. But it's a huge pet peeve of mine when I see people walking over the deceased in cemeteries.

I won't walk under a ladder either but not because of a superstitutious, just because I don't want to take a chance of it falling on top of me. It's a safety thing.

I step on craks in the sidewalk too, how is that irrational? There are plenty of weird things people do that aren't necessarily rational or irrational. What you think might happen if you do step on cracks can be judged as rational or irrational.

Anything I can so easily recognize as irrational isn't something I'm likely to believe.

But something that MIGHT be irrational that I nevertheless believe is that society as we know it is going to crumble within my lifetime, and there will be a monumental economic and/or governmental crisis that I should, in some way or another, try to be more prepared for than others.

Irrational: That somehow, before I get too old, I will find a way to extend my life that does not involve sacraficing my vices.

Unpopular: That humans have set back their development by being afraid of eugenics.

Superstition seems to be a human character trait that is genetically based. Nearly everyone, scientists and atheists included have some superstitious belief they harbor, even if is it something as innocuous as not walking under a ladder. But many people who harbor more well defined and stongly held superstitions such as believing in an almighty god don't see their cherished beliefs as superstitious.

I don't believe in anything that I think is irrational -- I'm a very rational person. However, I'm sure that there are some of my beliefs that ARE irrational, even if they don't seem that way to me. But that means I don't know what they are to tell you.

I believe that all the mean bastards of the world get reincarnated as Labrador Retrievers of various colors, so that they have to spend the rest of their days being kind , loving and totally loyal to people.
