It's SOOO difficult to understand and accept when a child is killed or dies from a disease. How can I believe that God would have this in His plan? The pain is unbearable and it's difficult to maintain enough faith to survive this. Why do horrible things happen to good people? Why was a 3-year-old taken when so many BAD people continue to thrive and hurt others? I'm having trouble figuring this out.

It was a horrible, freak accident that could not have been prevented by the parents. Please don't chastise them. They are in more pain than I can imagine already.

Here's my theory: This so called "God" just acts so incredibly powerful, but can't ever do anything to the inhabitants of earth. He may want to, but can he? What good has he really done? Where's he when people get addicted to drugs? Where's he when people lie or cheat? Where is he now, with all of this pollution and global warming? Where is he when people die. In a situation like this, when some innocent little person dies, or many many people for that matter, was probably when he was "discovered" by the people so that they could place the blame on something. The human mind is so complicated and so confused that anything can make it think that there is something out there that does create and destroy lives.

Don't blame anything, or anyone. This so called "God" is not the cause of such terrible things, people bring it amongst themselves. There is nothing that can be done. Stop hoping that one day, every little bad thing in the universe will go away because this God of yours wants everything to be alright. If that could happen, it would have happened already.

What has he done for you? Anything?

The little girl was probably a very, very, happy one.

I sympathize with you but I am taking the Devil's advocate side here.

Good or bad are completely subjective things that are beyond the realm of G-d.

Think about why you find offense to this. In the middle ages, people were happy to die because they thought they were going straight to heaven. Life was pretty crappy. then.

My point is that your disgust with this situation is purely from an emotional point of view. Emotional pain exists because a person lets something bother them. While this point of view would be considered horrific one could be of the opinion that the death of a child is good because it lifts people from a financial burden. Perhaps a husband and wife were only together for the sake of a child and staying married was making them both miserable. In that way some good could come form a child's death.

I am pretty sure this is going to get a bunch of thumbs down, but my only goal is to get people to try to think differently and analyze a seperate point of view.

Lastely, I think the book "Why bad things happen to good people" sucks. The argument I just made is superior to that book.

the message of that book is that G-d is simply not powerful enough to do anything about every day tragedy.

Just keep your faith and trust in God going strong. God ALWAYS brings good out of bad, and He will with this too. Of course it may take some major time to find out. Sometimes we may not find out til we are in heaven.

Since we cannot see into the future, we have no clue what this girl's life would've held, and God DOES know, so we need to believe He took her HOME to be with Him in order to save her from who knows what in this life. There are so many horrible things out there and people that could do harm to her.

Just please keep your trust in Him and praise Him that this little child is sitting on God's lap now, safe and sound for ALL eternity!!

For the people who are saying there is no God, or it's because of what the child did in another life (or whatever it was), please realize that's probably not doing alot to help.

There is a simple explanation: the Christian God does not exist. The child’s death was merely a result of the laws of science/physics. No God planned anything. Prayer does not work. I feel horribly for you and the child’s parents. But no God had anything to do with it. All we can do as humans is give support to the child’s parents, family and friends, and try to prevent the same from happening to other children in the future.

I am sorry for your pain and especially sorry for the parents and siblings. The loss of life is irreplaceable.

This question caused me to really take a close look at my faith a few years ago. In the end I realized that there is no rational, logical way to figure God out, and that the only way to continue believing in his existence was through blind faith.

I couldn't manufacture it and am now an Atheist.

Hang in there, time is the only thing that can ease pain.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Let me tell you, I can understand your hurt and anger. I wonder the same thing, why take someone so sweet and loving when there are so many evil people in this world.
It is important to understand that everything happens for a reason, and everything has its place. Your baby girl was in your life for 3 beautiful years....in those three years she taught you something. It is important to try and look at it as though she was here to show you something.....

Yes. It is indeed so difficult to understand. It does not make sense. In answering this, let me just establish one thing; I am not answering for God. He knows very well what He does, whether in allowing horrible things to happen to good people, or allowing good things to happen to bad people. He is way too unsearchable for me. Because of this, I gave up wondering. I quit trying to understand these things even though they did not make sense.
But I will give my limited-knowledge-answer according to what I have read in the Bible:
In the old testament book of Isaiah, chapter 55 verses 8 & 9, he says, " For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Now how on earth can I contend with that?

Furthermore, in another old testament book Job, in chapter 1, it says Job was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. To cut to the chase, Job lost all that he had(if you read the rest of chapter 1), including his 10 children, in one fell swoop. What did he say? What did he make out of these? At the end of this chapter, Job declared, ...." The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised."
After all these, in chapter 2, Job was afflicted with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. His wife asked him to "Curse God and die!" He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"
While this answer may not be what you are looking for, this is all I can say, under the circumstances. God has that 3-year-old girl with Him now. In heaven. The best place to be.

I believe in karma/ reincarnation. That would explain things like this. This child perhaps did something bad in a past lifetime & suffered an accident to clear the balance.
Perhaps the child's parents also had some issues they had to clear up and this suffering is the karma they are enduring as well.
My family has endured a lot of seemingly needless pain & suffering and tragedy as well.

The bible says that time and unforeseen occurrences befall us all, in other words, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. There are worst things happening in the world, if you want to hold God accountable. Since God wasn't driving the truck, I have to wonder why you blame him.

In reference to you people who do not believe in God, I would think that you would have better things to do than answering questions on this forum. But then, thank God, we still have the police departments etc. to keep you people in check.

Im so sorry about what happened. First of all, it may just be a test from God. Though its pretty rough to think, but it is possible. Another thing is that God does everything for a reason. He knows what He is doing and just leave your trust into his hands. The little girl is definitely in a better place now, trust me. I lost my older brother when he was a toddler due to some health complications. To tell you the truth, i was devestated. But every year now we vist his grave and pray that he is doing well. May you find peace...and i hoped i helped.
