Punish those who employ them. No job=no money and no way to survive. I mean I really really to understand how crappy it is where they live BUT we have our own problems too. They keep coming because they KNOW they can get jobs!
Oooo and I just thought they should also go after those who rent housing to illegals. No ssn = no apartment.
I think that is probably the most effective means.
The fence idea is just stupid. I'm sorry but the cost and the maintenance and upkeep and staffing.....jeesh that's like what my child would have come up with.
As far as enforcing existing laws, as much as that should be done, there is simply not the funds or manpower to round up illegal immigrants already here and ship them back.
I have nothing against immigrants period. In fact I feel really bad that most of them were born where they were. But we still have homeless Americans and children who aren't getting healthcare and enough to eat. Senior who can't afford medicine. Single parents who can't afford daycare. Americans need to fix our own problems as well.

I think there is two equally effective ways to solve the problem. Announce that all illegal immigrants are to be shot if caught and carry out this punishment 100% of the time. Machine gun towers on the border would prevent an invasion of more immigrants. The other way is to make the illegals legal and allow them to stay and work under certain guidelines that would be made. I think the second option is better but the first might reflect 21st century America more accurately.

I heard Kennedy say this morning that ...'I've heard what they don't want (referring to the US citizens), but they won't tell us what they want."
I don't know how much clearer we can make it.. We don't want 12 millions new citizens with the stroke of a pen. They are illegals and need to be deal with as criminals. Why should they be rewarded for breaking the law? It would just promote more influx of illegals waiting for the next amnest bill to pass.
The way to solve the problem... is to take care of the border and then ENFORCE our already in place immigration laws. Go after the illegals and those that employee them.
The problem would go away pretty quickly.

I think our government intentionally let it happen. Think about it. The only grounds to be against illegals is that they are lawbreakers. But they are breaking laws so they can peacefully enter the workforce... They aren't endangering the population in this capacity. Since it's not the first time they just want to legalize them and move on, I think it's reasonable to conclude that they have no intentions of sealing off the border properly.
I say pass this bill granting amnesty, but really secure the border this time. At the same time, provide an easier path to a working license or citizenship for anyone that wants to come over here.

The problem is: it's too big. How can you possible crack down 12 millions people in this country. Even if they did crack down on some of their employers and I say some. How in the world will the goverment find the time and money to do that. They should of given them amnesty but even with that, the problem will never be fix. The goverment has too many things to deal with. I heard from a friend of mine who's a lawyer for immigration, that once the immigration has decided to deport you, if you don't show up on the date they have given you, they dont care and they don't go after you...So why waste time and money to make them go through all of that. Everybody's talking about a SSN , do you know that all they have to pay is $200 and they get a fake one. And the goverment can't detect it either...
So the bottom line is, they waited to long , they don't know what to do about it and they don't really care.

I would for instance, hold countries like Mexico responsible and make them cough up the $33 billion illegals cost the United States tax payers every year. It would also be good to hold countries such as, Mexico responsible for withholding millions of dollars from its people who come to America for a better way of life illegally.
Point given, if a country such as, Mexico can fund these Hispanic organizations to mobilize illegal immigration protests in the United States and keep a large cash surplus in its pockets then it has enough money to spread around to help its poor.
Nobody deserves a free ride. Especially these animals marching upon our capitol steps thinking they deserve rights.

Well, I think the answer to this question is mostly an opinion. Some people do not believe that illegal immigration is a problem. They think that illegal immigrants should be allowed. So I think there is not an absolute answer to this question.

first, vote republicans out of office. they will do anything to support big business. this last bill would have been bad for everybody, including the Illegals. the only one that would have benefited was big business. they get a lot of cheap labor so they can fire the citizens who have been there too long and make too much.
second, move prisons and military base to all of our borders, they can do double duty of patrolling the borders.
finally, and most importantly, deport Illegal Immigrants.

Making something illegal doesn't make something go away. We need to make it less profitable for illegal immigrants to come here and less profitable for employers to hire illegals. We also need to increase the likelihood of getting caught either entering the country illegally or hiring illegal immigrants. Easier said than done, I am afraid.

If you get caught with an illegal, you lose 1/3 of your money and 1/3 of your income for the next year. all that money goes to border enforcement.
