The main thing is just to eat 5-6 small meals a day, and to try and eat from different food groups. Yogurt is great for the dairy group, and cantaloupe is great for your fruit. Just get a food pyramid and do your best with that. It can seem like alot, but remember a "serving" is only about 1/2 cup.
Drinking enough water is VERY important while pregnant, and you should do your best to drink 8-10 glasses a day. But remember, a glass is only 8 oz, and most bottled waters have about 16-17 oz. so a bottle of water usually equals two glasses, so it isn't as much as it seems.
As far as food to stay away from, I see a nutritionist and the only foods I was told not to eat were certain kinds of fish such as swordfish, shark, and fresh water fish like trout, etc. Also, no sushi. Other than the fish, you should avoid soft cheeses like bleu cheese, mexican cheeses, feta cheese, etc. Also, no deli meat unless it is completely cooked, where it is pretty much everywhere. You usually would only buy uncooked deli meats in old style delis. You can have tuna, just limit the amount to about a can per week and it MUST be canned tuna, NOT fresh.Other than that, you can eat just about ANYTHING.
As far as caffeine goes, everyone has a different opinion. My doctor and nutritionist think that caffeine is ok as long as it isn't alot. Usually one caffeinated beverage per day is good. Just don't go overboard with it.
It is true that you should be cautious about other foods, but you CAN eat them. Just make sure meat and eggs are cooked all the way, as well as any other foods.
That's about it. Good luck and Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.. I'll try to keep the list short because alot of it is common sense.. Of course fruits, veggies, lean meats, dairy, LOTS of water and prenatal vitamins are a must.. It's very important to eat a variety of foods to get all the nutrients you and your baby need. However there are some things that you have to start avoiding or at least limiting these are: Caffeine, Processed sugars, salt, raw or undercooked foods, anything from the deli in the store UNLESS you take it home and heat it till it's steaming hot and same goes for deli cheese and cheese like Feta or some soft cheese.. because they may bacteria that can harm your baby.. Fish is a great food to have while your pregnant but again it has to be done carefully.. Canned tuna is safe so are some fish like: Bass, catfish, cod and salmon. But unsafe fish are: Shark, FRESH tuna, sea bass, king mackerel and raw shellfish. Also you should never eat more than 12 oz. of fish in a week.. Eating out in restaurants once and a while is fine.. Hope this info helps.. Good Luck

You can eat basically what you normally do with some precautions.
Don'ts:
Lunch meat - only if it's been heated first
Tuna - of any kind - high mercury
Sushi - no raw fish
Unpasteurized cheese or dairy - this includes feta, brie, blue veined cheeses. On this I have heard that in the US most of these cheeses are pasteurized so they are okay to eat - but check with your doctor first.
Raw or undercooked eggs
Raw oysters, mussels
Alcohol
Do's
Fruits
Vegetables
Pastas, rice, bread, cereal
Dairy, milk, cheese, yogurt
It's fine for you to go out to eat - whenever you want.
Take a prenatal vitamin everyday as well. And drink lots of water/fluids.
Congrats!

Pretty much eat what you crave, just try to get as much of a variety as possible, and limit the processed stuff (hot dogs, cold cuts, hams, etc.) Sliced deli turkey or roast beef is okay in small amounts, because it's not super processed. Severely limit (even eliminate completely) tuna, mackerel, swordfish because of the mercury levels.
Make sure you get plenty of calcium!
It's fine to eat in restaurants - just avoid sushi places and limit any fast food for the fat content.
You can eat peanut butter - I have a friend that I was convinced she was going to give birth to Mr. Peanut because she ate PB&J EVERY day she was pregnant! (And no allergies in the kid, and she's 3)

My Dr. told me to eat what I want. As long as you are taking your vitamins and eating the baby will get what it needs from what you eat. If the baby needs something specific your body will naturally crave what it knows has that in it....for example...I HATE to drink milk but craved a glass of it the other day. (my body need calcium) You don't have to change everything about what you eat just because you are pregnant.
You should eat more fruits and veggies but you don't have to be on a meal plan just because you are pregnant.

I think your diet should include a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, low fat meats in moderation, some whole grain products and nuts and lowfat milk/milk products. If you cannot tolerate milk, then eat broccoli as it is a good source of calcium, which your baby needs. Do take your pre-natal vitamins. Fresh fruits and vegetables, wash well, are really good for you. Restaurants are fine, but try to maintain the fresh vegetables (salads) and lowfat meats regimine. Limit gravies, fried foods, etc. Always follow what your doctor tells you about your diet, as well.

You can eat pretty much whatever you want. I would stay away from Sushi though. Fish is definetly a good thing to have. Yes, even tuna. The omega in fish is good for the both of you. You really don't need to change your diet...just eat what you want.
Eat at restaurants all you want. Don't read too much into all of the hype on what to do and what not to do. Much is just speculation.

Make sure you drink allot of milk and get your calcium, Of coarse you should fill up on fruits and vegetables. Be very careful of your sugar intake. You don't want to develop gestational diabetes. Try not to take in to much caffeine. drink lots of water. Try to stay away from fast food places. Overall they are bad for everyone, but while you are pregnant it really is still fattening and very low nutritional value. And take your pre-natal vitamins every day. I recommend taking them on a full stomach. Good luck with your new addition.

No tuna whatsoever, because of the mercury and be careful of large ocean fish in general. Mercury can cause brain developmental problems and has been speculated to be a constributing factor to ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities.
Eat your normal diet and add in several additional fruits and veggies per day. Do not drink caffiene, and do try to drink tons of water each day. Its fine to eat out, just be careful about ocean fish.
A lot of providers tell you no hot dogs and processed meats, deli meats because of potential problems. Use your best judgement and I think things will be fine.
