JW stay completely away from everything that isn't about religion. Quakers are pacifists and don't join the military either.

Mormons can be very political.

It would be safe to say almost all the politicians in Utah are Mormon.

Jehovah's Witnesses view themselves as Ambassadors of Christ.

Rev 19:17 I saw also an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice and said to all the birds that fly in mid heaven: “Come here, be gathered together to the great evening meal of God, 18 that YOU may eat the fleshy parts of kings and the fleshy parts of military commanders and the fleshy parts of strong men and the fleshy parts of horses and of those seated upon them, and the fleshy parts of all, of freemen as well as of slaves and of small ones and great.”

Why would a christian join are be part of something Jesus said he was going to distroy?

Historically the 1st century Christians left political office and the military when they became a christian.

Yes it is, it is part of Jehovahs witness teachings that they take no formal part in government. This includes nationalism, JW's will not sing a national anthem or salute a flag or individual.

The reason being is the goverments of the world were not put in place by Jehovah (god) and we have no allegiance to them, the only government to follow is that of Jesus who was righfully placed as the King of men.

Further to that JW are taught to still respect the law as they generally fall into line with christian values, it is only if it clashes with there views they will refuse to conform.

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses do not get involved with politics as Jesus instructed his followers to be "no part of the world as he was no part of the world".

So no matter what country we live in, we do not get involved with politics or worldly conflicts, which include voting and going to war. There are close to 7 million Witnesses worldwide in 239 lands. So we would also not want to go to war and kill our brother. Jesus said we are to "love our enemy". And that you would know his followers by "the love they have among themselves.

We do however obey the laws of the land and pay our taxes and any other requirement, such as licenses, insurances etc.
Jesus said "to pay back Cesar's things to Cesar and God's things to God."

Jehovahs Witnesses do NOT go to war, vote, or join the military. We believe that God's Kingdom is the only hope for mankind.

True Christians love peace. They stay completely neutral in the world’s military, political, and ethnic conflicts. But, strictly speaking, they are not pacifists. Why? Because they welcome God’s war that will finally enforce his will on earth—a war that will settle the great issue of universal sovereignty and rid the earth of all enemies of peace once and for all.—Jeremiah 25:31-33; Daniel 2:44; Matthew 6:9, 10.

In that universal war the words of Jesus to his apostle Peter will be true: “All they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” (Matt. 26:52, AV) But those abiding by the words of Isaiah 2:4, "And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore". These will survive the universal war, just as Noah and his family survived the global flood.

Edit
Margaret B has the facts confused - Again JWs do NOT vote, or go to war! We remain neutral, we look to God's Kingdom is the only source of hope.

Did Jesus vote?
Did Jesus join the military?
As far as supporting the country...we pay taxes all of them..we obey every law....we are good citizens..good neighbors..good people. And we do it for Jehovah.

...next question.

The free masons don't pay income taxes, either. They don't believe in it. They won't use paper money, either, because it has pictures of presidents on it. (for real...Wacky, huh?)
They don't believe in charge cards, either. They think they are evil because all the letters are in caps (your name on the card)

WILD WILD , I tell you. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't met one of these guys on a blind date. I was so glad to get out of that restaurant and leave......
