Yikes! Two weeks and 2 days from wedding day and I have a canker sore....could stress have caused this? Has anyone else experienced this close to wedding day? Luckily (if you call it lucky) it's at the very bottom of the inside of my mouth near the gum and inner lip. Anyway to halt its progress? I have kanker sore numbing stuff...but I want it to be gone by July 14.....help!! LOL

(I think Chloe was thinking of herpes simplex 1, which is what a cold sore is... but that's different than a canker sore.)
Sure, it's caused by stress - and should clear up well within a week, even if you don't do anything. Gargling with warm salt water should help. Go talk to a pharmacist if you find it's not easing off in several days.

Typically it will heal itself in 7 to 14 days but here are a couple things that might help:
Home remedy from the UNiversity of Maryland Medical Center:
The easiest home remedy is to apply hydrogen peroxide with a cotton swab on the canker sore (1 part hydrogen peroxide to 1 part water). Then dab a small amount of milk of magnesia on the canker sore 3 - 4 times a day. This is not only soothing, but appears to help healing.

Cankaid is available at drug stores and it helps with the pain and irritation.
No worries, it'll be gone before you know it!

I believe Chloe is confused with a Cold sore (which is oral herpes). I looked up Canker sore at the Mayo Clinic (link) and they said this for self-treatment.
"1. Avoid abrasive, acidic or spicy foods, which may increase the pain.
2. Apply ice to your canker sores or allow ice chips to slowly dissolve over the sores to ease the pain.
3. Brush your teeth gently, using a soft brush to avoid irritating the sore.
4. Rinse your mouth with salt water or over-the-counter preparations. Try diluted hydrogen peroxide or elixir of diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Be sure to spit the Benadryl out to avoid absorption, so that the medication doesn't make you sleepy.
5. Dab a small amount of milk of magnesia on your canker sore a few times a day. This can ease the pain and may help the canker sore to heal.
6. Use an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others). "

it's from stress.
Take a q-tip and put some peroxide on it, rub it on the canker sore. It will help it go away.

It isn't HIV, you're right ... it is a stress related sore. You should really treat yourself to a spa visit and just unwind. Sounds to me like you just need a break from planning and a chance to think about something else. Everything should be fun, so keep it that way and reduce your stress with a nice massage and a pedicure and manicure!!

First of all, even if you do nothing, it will be gone by 7/14...that being said, if you rinse every single day with Listerine (I prefer the blue), you will never get another one...it only burns the first week or so...
I used to get them quite often, but I've not gotten a single one since I started this months ago.

I used to get these all the time and yes, stress is a factor. Vitamins do help, in particular the B complex. Eating right and getting enough sleep will help you from here on out.
Be prepared for the subterranean "Mega-Zit" that is bound to pop up 24 hours before the wedding.

Gargle with listerine or some other antiseptic mouth wash (make sure it is ANTISEPTIC - i.e. not Scope) once or twice an hour.
Carry a travel bottle with you and gargle even while you are out.
It will help expidite the healing process.
Good luck.
