i have a cream coloured material sofa, and the covers cant be removed, is there any way of dying it a darker colour

If the cover can't be removed, you run the risk of the dye ending up splotchy, since you can't completely immerse your sofa in the dye. You would need to be pretty savvy in working with furniture and fabric, but if you can find a way to remove the cover, it's pretty easy to staple back on, just make a note of how it's been tacked on to your sofa, as you take it off. If not, I would suggest buying a slip cover in the style and color of your choice. Target and WalMart have inexpensive slip covers.
