I won't say it will or it won't. I tried it and it lasted a little over a year, I was very committed, but the guy became very emotionally abusive and when I met him after 6 months of online dating, he was physically abusive as well. It depends on how committed you two are and how serious you are about being with each other and only each other. Can you handle not seeing each other all the time, and wishing you could do things that you really can't because of the distance between you? These are all things you should think about before rushing into a relationship that may or may not work, and then ruin your friendship that you have.

It might if you're older and you have the money, the time and the means to visit each other...

But if you are younger, all it would be is a flirty penpal relationship and though you can keep that as long as you want, the fact is, what would happen if down the line you both are presented with other opportunities by great people? Are you really going to let someone walk away to carry on a penpal relationship with someone who isnt even there?

It wont work in the long run.... unless you are older, can visit each other, have explored your possibilities, and better yet, have a jet.

it really sucks, but usually they don't work unless the relationship is serious and you know you are gonna be with the other person for a long time. unfortunately, your situation is just a whole lot harder since it's another state that you are in. so ask yourself: does this guy have long-term potential? how often are you going to be able to see eachother? how can you be sure he's not seeing someone who does live in florida? just be careful and only attempt long distance if you think you guys have a chance. i hope it works out! good luck! :-D

Nope - they work out great until you actually arent long distance anymore. You wait and wait til you can see them for a long weekend and it is fabulous and exciting cuz you and he aren't in "real life" you are only worried about each other and then you can go back to regular life after he/she leaves and goes back home to wait until the next meeting. When you are together all the time the excitement is gone and usually the relationship fizzles out a few months later. Sad, but true.

i am now married to the woman i had a long distance relationship with. i lived in England and she in the US, we talked on line and on the phone for 2 years, i would visit her every 3 months and spend two weeks with her, we got engaged when i moved to the US then married 6 months later, we have been married for 7 years now. So i would say if you are really into each other it can work.

Long distance relationships are what you make of them, if you are commited and so is he. I don't see why not. But just know that it takes more than emails, phone calls and flowers to make a long distance relationship work. You would have to make trips to see him visa versa. I don't know your financial situation but it may cost you more than you bargained for. So make sure that is exactly what you want and need as of this moment. Being that far away from a person demands alot of attention.....good luck.

Karen A. Only if you both are determined to make it work ! But first be honest with yourselves. When you have had a bad day or get bad news the other can"t be there to comfort you or celebrate with you when something good happens ! For me it has never worked but perhaps I am just not worthy. So if this is what you choose I will pray for you ! ! ! May God bless you !

It is definately possible. I am still in school, while by bf has been done for two years now. We're both in seperate places, but we're still together and we're doing just fine. It all depends on if you two are willing to make it work, and if you love each other enough that the distance is no biggy :)

why r u talking to someone in fl when you got alot of guys here in tx...damn what a traitor but to answer your question yes it would and could work but it would take more effort than what it does when the person is a couple mile away just because when you 2 get in a fight and you wanna go over to talk about it you can't just get in a plane and fly to fl so i say yes if you 2 are both willing to give more than a 100 percent!!!:D my long distance last and we
re engage with a one year old kid but she lived 4 hrs away!!!

It really just depends if both of you are willing to work it out. Me and my husband had a long distance relationship when we started dating he was in Cali and me in Tx but we wanted to be together so we made it work. Now we both live in Tx we have been married for 5 yrs and together for 7.
