No, you're confusing Mormons with Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witness don't vote, join the military, etc. Mormons actively take part in politics and you will find Mormon Governors, Representatives, judges, etc. They also join the military.

My Grandfather served in both WWII and Korea, my father served in Korea. We have a neighbor, who is also LDS, that is in Iraq right now, and will be for a year. Another LDS neighbor also served in Iraq and got back a few years ago. We have many people who live around us that are LDS and serve in the military.
Most of us think of it as a great thing to join and serve our country. We uphold the law, and are very patriotic. I know here, you will probably see more people around the 4th of July wearing flag tee shirts or other some sort of patriotic attire. In Provo, which is just across the lake from us, they have the stadium of fire every year, and let me tell you, it's a site to see!!!! It's put on by BYU, which is a church owned university.
I vote, and I think as Americans, we need to vote. I'm also an organ donor. We aren't told who to vote for, or given any input from the church one way or the other. They don't endorse any candidate, not even Mitt Romney. That is a choice we have to make, and isn't at all involved with church membership, or with any part of the church.
As far as our underwear, in answer to a few other people, What does it matter what my underwear looks like??? It isn't magical, or anything like that. It's just underwear!! It is special to me, and is meant to be a symbol of some commitments I have made with the Lord, and is similar to habits nuns wear, or a collar a priest wears. It is a symbol of my faith and devotion to the Lord. Nothing more.

I wen to the History channels website and searched for that, but I didn't find anything. It certainly is not true. As has been said above, we are encouraged to not only vote but participate in our communities. Many Mormons have served in the military. My dad joined the Air Force to get through college, my grandpa was in WWII. We even salute the flag.

Wrong religion. Obviously, you've never heard about the Mormon Battalion--those 500 young men and a few women that responded to a call to march 2,000 miles from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to San Diego, California, on 26 June 1846 at the request of President James K. Polk. This was the longest recorded infantry march in U.S. military history. Even after years of persecution, revilement, and threat of extinction by the U.S. Government, the Latter-day Saints responded in a patriotic and civil duty.
What's more, I had five years in the U.S. Army when the Mormon missionaries knocked on my door. I continued to serve 15 more years as a Latter-day Saint.
I have voted in the political arena since I was eligible to do so. Does that tell you anything?

I'm not a Mormon and wont be but supporting your country don't necessarily involve knocking the crap out of another country, and then repairing it back up again while some big players make a fortune off the reconstruction ,and military instruments.Just think of the billions $$ that are being made from war ships right down to meals .THINK

Nope. I lived next to a Mormon family for ten years. Everyone of the males served in the military. They never missed voting in any election either. Consider the history channel entertainment. The majority of their programs are poorly researched and as a consequence, they are purveyors of a tremendous amount of misinformation.

Percentage wise, there are more Mormons in the US military than any other denomination. Mormons actively vote, enter the military and defend our freedoms.
One of the tenets of Mormonism is to honor and obey the law of the land. Additionally, during the explosion of Mormons from Missouri and Illinois, when the US President James Buchanan told the Mormons that even though there was so-called "freedom of religion" in the USA, he (President Buchanan) said there was nothing he could do to help them. In spite of that, Mormons formed the "Mormon Battalion in 1847 to support the USA in the Spanish American War.

Absolutley not. Mormons are encouraged to be politically active and are told to vote according to the dictates of their conscience, not advised for or against any candidates. There are many momons in the military and in local and national governement. Have you heard of Mitt Romney? He is a candidate for president in the 2008 election. He's also mormon. In my experience, mormons are very active in supporting their country.
