Sadly No.
Bush and his supporters made it perfectly clear that Not passing the bill was, in fact, de facto amnesty. Others stated that this bill was better than doing nothing or the status quo.
Reading between the lines, The Congress intends on doing nothing. Everyone knows that there is already laws on the books that address the issues.
Bottom line is this and all the previous bills were about granting amnesty and never about enforcement. The bill only promised enforcement to make it more palatable. The House passed an enforcement only bill over a year ago and the senate would have nothing to do with it because it did not contain amnesty.
Now the Senate says they will not look at this problem again until after the elections, further evidence that they do not plan on doing anything.
Look at our two darling Senators from California. Both voted against making English the official language of the US and both voted to give Social Security benefits to illegal aliens. Don't think for one minute that they plan on enforcing the law or honor their oath of office.
If the American people want their laws enforced then we will have to be the ones to enforce them

No. But more the question, do you think the states will start enforcing the immigration laws or will they continue to gleefully shove the government tit into the mouths of illegals?
I live in Virginia. Maryland is trying to give illegals drivers licenses and in state tuition to state colleges. Banks are setting up checking and credit accounts for illegals. Try walking into your bank and telling them that you want to open an account but don't want to provide your social security number so that they can't report you to the IRS. They won't do it. Try getting a license without proper documentation. Can't do it. But you can if you're an illegal alien and as such, a felon. Amazing, huh?

No -- The business or America is business so even though it costs the taxpayer more than it saves business to hire illegal immigrants, ICE will perform only the token operations that garner the most publicity. Even though many in Congress will be forced to vote for more stringent laws or be voted out, they depend on business for political contributions.
State and local government will need to be more proactive than the feds willl be in enforcing new and existing laws. The only way to ensure honest enforcement at all levels is to vote in more apolitical people i.e independents, and very wealthy people who aren't beholden to PACs..

They're just trying to distract us from whats going on in Iraq (if anything probably grant citizenship and make spanish a 2nd language and then we'd hear more and more pinata music and whistling at the red lights)...keeping us busy like usual, but, I think if those who really want reform should not stay quiet. Americans need to think about who theyre voting for and why and not vote for somebody just for the label (straight votes)

I am sure in his juvenile anger Bush will instruct his departments to actually step down what little enforcement is being done. I am sure he has a "I will show them attitude"
He does after all have the brain of a 10 year old evidenced
everytime he doesn't get exactly what he wants and starts
spouting about compromise and holding his breath.

If they fined companies that hired illegals it could help pay for enforcement. The same way traffic ticket fines help pay for enforcement.
Right now it costs the tax payer to give illegals free rides back to the border.
And i don't think illegals would risk their lives crossing the border if they thought no one would hire them.
To me it's a no-brainer.
So my answer, sadly, is no.

Hey Spazz above..you might like to think so. The American people have spoken. For the first time in decades we will get the border in control and start the process of making the illegals life miserable.
THATS THE FACTS JACK!
Like this story link below shows, its going to be a rough ride amigos

No, absolutely not. They haven't since the 50s, and they only make token attempts when leading up to an Amnesty Bill like the one that just failed. Now that it's failed, there will be virtually no enforcement on the borders. Revenge against the American people for daring to voice thier demands.

The question should be. How many arrests/deportations, before they fill up their institutions, with fed-up illegals who will take a couple of college courses while serving the required amount of times?!
That will add to the much resisted money factor that this whole issue was based on from the beginning.....
On behave of my much deserving Mexican people. I would like to Thank You fellow Americans for providing them a secured top of the [tax payers] line education!
