This must be the pride of the state of Arkansas' law enforcement. Skateboarding may be a misdemeanor, but think about how many real criminals got away because these police decided to throw some defenseless kids around.

I hope their parents file a lawsuit.

My uncle used to be a Texas Ranger and a highway patrolman for 25 years I never once called him for anything not even one traffic ticket. Feck the police!

As a retired law enforcement Officer I am embarrased at the conduct I observed on the part of those Arkansas Officers.

The one officer appeared very responsible for the escalation of the incident due to his lack of control.

When contacting "skateboarders" whom are conducting illegal activities the idea would be to identify them all before taking any action such as and hands on issue; while identifying them the backup would roll over and they could issue citations absent problems.

An ordinance is an ordinance, yet, with all considered, the police were way our of line in grabbing a girl by her neck, and then grabbing another juvenile by his neck; this was an issue of the police conducting themselves in such a bad tactical manner they forced the grabbing escalation by thier own Conduct.

I'm happy the video is online as that means , somehow, it was saved before they erased it.

Most cops are ok with such issues as bikers and skateboarders; what I am also seeing is a cop whom does not have any repor with kids as he goes hands on pretty fast and again, he had too as he lost control early on.

Any Arkansas lawyer might be happy with this civil action as the tape is good evidence of "cops gone wild"...

Better a late answer than none at all! This is police state tactics at their worse. If a "civilian" did this to any kid they would be facing hard time! What gives this thug the right to rough up kids playing? His maximum response should have been to chase them off! As for the response by the one claiming to be a cop. Listen here you scumbag piece of crap you are not a law unto your self! You are a major part of what is wrong with this country. If you do this kind of thing you should be doing serious hard time!
To protect and serve my ***! the only thing you protect and serve is yourselves and government interests! Hope you are wearing knee pads when you serve your masters so people won't see the worn out knees of your pants!

I saw the video and the cop was absolutely out of control and should be disciplined, but to answer your question: If you have ever walked out the door of a bank with a 93-year-old woman on her walker and had some skateboarding punk barely miss you at great speed, dodging her by the tiniest millimeter, you would know why skateboarding is banned. While she standing shaking, they're off laughing and high-fiving each other at how "cool" they were at missing her. If that's what those kids did before the cop showed, then I applaud his attempts to deal with them. Shopping centers and places where people congregate is no place to being skateboarding.

The cop was out of line.
The children were out of line.
Disrespect is not illegal.
If good cops would start arresting bad cops for there illegal activities then all cops would get more respect.
The camera operator did not appear to be braking any laws, wasn't skating, wasn't resisting arrest.
Also it was some type of national skateboard day. The police department should have been a little more prepared for the days events.

, They resisted arrest didn't disperse when ordered. Seems he was pretty much by the book. If one of those punks had hit the officer with a skate board would you have cared ? The officer wasn't rough ,looks routine to me. I don't think Id have been that gentle.Enforcing the law means enforcing all the laws of the city state or Federal government . They didn't look like "children" they looked more than old enough to read and knew they were breaking laws.If you don't like cops then the next time you need help...call a electrician

I like how you say that you have family that was in law enforcement. Yet you say, FXCK them...I have personally never stopped a skateboarder. I used to rider BMX. So I overlook things unless I am specifically called for skaters that is. Then it is not about skating, it is about Tresspassing...Within the last week in my town there have been two carjackings at gunpoint. Both were performed by "children". 15 and 16 year olds commit crimes. Just because you don't agree with something dose not mean that it is wrong...You yourself sound like a child, go out and see the world.

I think cops get bored, just like kids. The kids need a place to ride their skateboards. That would solve both problems. Cops could be looking for real criminals and kids could be skateboarding, legally, instead of sitting at home playing video games or watching TV.

You have no idea how these "kids" act these days. Nothing causes them to take a different route. They have been known to get up in a police officer's face and cuss them out and many of the "skateboarders" are nothing more than petty thugs. I hope the police give them a few knots on their head just before the judge throws the book at them.

I am in no way taking his side or justifying the cops actions but as a past Law Enforcement officer as well, maybe there is more to this than we are seeing, maybe they provoked him, or did something else, so I really can't comment either way without the whole facts. If he was wrong than he should be punished!

I am not sure what your talking about, but one thing cops do is taser disruptive children in schools. The last one I heard about was on a unruley 6 year old! In Arkansas, things may be a bit different.
