First of all, the following are my OPINIONS only. Those people that want to "hands down" me, I really don't care. Freedom of Speech - I'm only expressing my feelings.
Okay - now let's "play".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JDL - Your questions:
that I want them to pray for me?
JDL, my friend...we pray for ourselves and our fellow Jews. Why worry about what they do?
......that I want any of the Christian literature they hand me?
Okay - now that also irritates me. Especially when people see me walking with a snood on my head, a star of David hanging from my neck, and my attire is completely tzneis.
......that I want to be loved by Jesus?
Another ridiculous request by THEM. We are loved by Hashem. That is all that matters to us.
......that I want to be "Saved"?
Saved? THEY don't even understand the concept. Mitzvos, chesed...these are what will get us to Gan Eden.
......that I cannot possibly be happy if I haven't accepted Jesus?
Again - THEY don't understand the meaning of Happy. They follow a book that doesn't really exist - as it was taken from the OT and re-worded and twisted to justify their falsehoods.
......that I want their beliefs shoved down my throat?
Ignorance?
......that as a Jew, it's their moral obligation to harass me about my beliefs?
As a Jew, we don't need any moral assistance. We have the Torah & Talmud to help us follow the right path. Tell them you are not interested in hearing anything - it's your OBLIGATION not to listen!
......that as a Jew, their Pastor will give them a gold star if they get me to convert?
Now, I'm not sure about that one. I know they think something to the effect that if they can "convert" a Jew, they feel they are one step closer to Gan Eden- or their version of it?
......that as a Christian, they are allowed to treat Atheists like crap?
They are NOT allowed to treat anyone like that just because of someone's religious beliefs.
What is it that other people say?
They need to GET A real LIFE!
םאַשׁ my friend!
Why do you assume that as a Christian I believe or assume any of this.
We pray for you anyway. Stop complaining. It doesn't hurt you to have people praying for you.
I won't hand you any literature because you would do with it what I do with the book of Mormon when they give me one of those......
He loves you whether you want it or not.
Yes you do want to be saved. Your looking for the Messiah too. We just differ as to timing.
You don't sound happy right now do you. However I don't assume your not happy.
That's an odd statement for someone who is visiting a place where people shove their beliefs down other throats. If you don't like the water get out of the pool.
Their moral obligation is not to harass you because your a Jew their moral obligation is to tell you about Yahshua regardless of your race or religion.
I'm a pastor we don't give gold stars to anyone. God converts people not Christians.
I'm seeing no evidence of Atheist being treated like crap. That they respond in kind to the atheist by poking holes in their assertions and telling them they think they are wrong is fair play not malice.
You need the shalom of Yahweh in your life my friend. Take a chill pill and stop letting the evangelicals get to you.
I am so sorry for the way you have been bombarded by christians in your life.. you sound quite ticked off and bitter about it all.
I do not agree with shoving the Lord down the throats of people.. they will just gag...
The Lord NEVER even presented Himself to people in that manner..
He was the One that the tax collectors and sinners wanted to be around .. He was a people magnet even though outwardly he was nothing to shout about.. he had no form or comeliness and there is not beauty that he should be desired...
He was a man of sorrow and aquainted with grief..
Any christian doing the things you listed above is clearly not learning how to live under the leading and influence of the Holy Spirit and are fleshy and carnal in their living.. or just plain self righteous.
I am a believer in CHrist and i struggle with this kind of opinion that is placed on me because of others.
It might actually be best of you not label ALL of us like that.. some of us are actually cool:)
With all due respect I regret to say that you show some ignorance regarding Christianity. There are two billion,predominately Catholic. Fundies as they are called are not "most Christians"; in fact,I don't consider them Christians at all. As a Catholic I regard them the way you would regard so-called messianic jews,which - theologically - is basicaly what a born-again is. And as a Catholic,I have no desire to convert anyone. We are not short of members. Please - in the future? - get your terminology and facts right before posting something like this. As directed to fundies I would have found it unobjectionable. However,you are conflating all Christians with a lunatic fringe. And you are attacking all Christians with the essentially false claim that we seek to convert Jews.
First of all I'm christian and if you don't want to be prayed for just say it. In my church we don't give them any literature, we tell them of Jesus's love. Jesus love is what fills the emptiness in our hearts. Jesus came to save us cuz he loves us. Its up to you if you want to accept Jesus or not, he gave you a choice, follow him or go your own path its up to you. We don't shove our beliefs into no ones throat or force them to believe in him. From what I know we don't harass no one. I'm not a Jew so I can't say anything. And Christians do not treat anyone as crap. In my church we try to help even the poor the way Jesus would do.
First, not all Christians treat Atheists like crap. It is more so the other way around.
Second, Christians only want to see other souls saved, whether you want it or not. We will pray for you, give you "literature", and tell you of Jesus' love. But it is up to you to accept it.
Third, there are plenty of people out there seeking after God, so I don't know why Christians waste a lot of time on Atheists any way. Not being mean, just saying that it would be more beneficial to talk to people who want Jesus Christ in their lives, not to one's who have shunned Him.
Almost ALL of them don't assume any of those things.
You're judging almost all Christians by the views of a few fundamentalists. That's hardly fair.
I ditto Sandy's answer.
I am so sorry that some Christians have treated you so poorly. Most of us are cool people who have fun, don't hate anyone, and don't judge others at all.
They don't assume that you want to be prayed for (they are obligated to pray for everyone), that you want Christian literature(If you read it, you read it, and that's awesome, if you don't then you don't), that you want to be loved by Jesus(If you knew Jesus, you just may want to be loved by him, if you don't want to be, then you don't want to be), that you want to be saved(Most people want to be safe), that you cannot be happy if you haven't accepted Jesus(If you are truly happy and with peace, God bless you for it!), that you want their beliefs shoved down your throat(No one wants to be pummeled).....
Christians want to spread the 'Good News.' God has blessed them in some special way, and they want to share that blessing with others. Most Christians can expect that their 'Good News' will not be wanted. So hopefully, they will smile and move on to someone who is interested in how God changed their lives. Jewish people have and always will be connected to God's chosen people. Jesus came so that the heathens could have a relationship with God too.
~Peace and Blessings~
Almost all? Almost all Christians are Catholic and we are almost two billion strong,so we do not tend to proselytise. Learn something about "Christianity" before you start throwing loud-mouthed accusations around. The Catholic Church does not seek jewish converts. And we are "most Christians". As far as fundies are concerned,they happen to be the only base of support,JDL - I assume that stands for jewish defence league - for your mad-dog fascist occupation authority in Palestine,so why complain if there's a downside? You guys are in bed together all the way. Ever heard of Christians United for Israel,co-sponsored in communities everywhere by orthodox synagogues and baptist temples? Yeah,I'm sure you haven't. Ha ha. Anyway,I'm glad they're bothering you and I hope it gets worse. You two deserve each other,and anyway,what's the diff between a so-called born-again and a jew? Not much. Neither one is Christian,for example.
Why are you assuming Christians are assuming all these things? The Christians I know, and am, don't assume you want anything and only hope we can influence by being good people. We don't want to cram anything down your throat!
