That is just logistics.
Physics had to be different. God gave the rainbow as a covenant (allegedly) so before the flood water did not refract different wavelengths of light differently as it does now.
From a practical viewpoint the flood story is so full of holes to be ridiculous. I can not understand how anyone with 1/4 of a brain can think it is the truth. It requires god to perform more than a dozen miracles to make it possible. Now an omnipotent god could have done that. He could have magically transported all the animals to and from the ark. He could have magically fitted them all in. He could have magically popped 2x the world oceans of water into existence, and then back to non-existence.He could have magically stopped the biggest ever sea going wood vessel from breaking apart and leaking like a sieve. He could have magically kept the salt and freshwater and the relevant fish separate. He could have magically maintained all the reefs. He could have magically fed and mucked out all the animals. He could have magically ventilated the entire ark though a single 4ft sq. window. He could have magically regrown all the plants. He could have magically fed all the carnivores until the herbivores had sufficient numbers. He could have magically changed the laws of physics.
Or he could have just zapped all the unjust humans into non-existence. But for some reason God wants to over complicate things.

There is so many problems with that entire story.
1. How do a few people build a large vessel like that out of wood? It had to be seaworthy and able to hold millions of lifeforms and food for them all. Even if you shrink the number of lifeforms to a few hundred, the amount of space they take up and the amount of food they would require for over 100 days is gigantic. Modern zoos cannot duplicate what the story of Noah has.
2. How do you take care of the animals? No zoo in the world has a staff as small as the human population on board the ark and no zoo has the number of animals that were on the ark. There is no way to take care of the animals with the small number of people that they had.
3. The logistics of gathering the animals is enormous. Also, keeping food on hand to feed the animals. It would take teams of people a long time to gather just the food. It would probably take years of work. One elephant can eat 500 pounds of food in one day. Lets say we reduce that to starvation rations that weigh 50 pounds. 100 days will mean 5000 pounds of food for one elephant. 10,000 pounds for 2 elephants. What about the different types of elephants? That is just elephants. Remember, there will be many large mammals that will require a lot of food. Gathering the food will require hundreds of people. Yet, these people were not brought along. Kind of a bummer for them.
4. That is food. What about water? Just drink the stuff that the ark is floating in? Maybe, maybe not. However, how do you get that stuff to the animals inside the ark. You have to carry it in buckets. One elephant can easily go thru 50 gallons of water a day. That is 416.5 pounds of water. Per elephant. Toss in the other large mammals that will need large amounts of water, you can see that with the technology available at the time, the bringing water to the animals is impossible. Even with technology from 1000 years in the future it is impossible. Heck, technology from 100 years ago would not have been able to cut it. With a 10 gallon bucket, that will be 5 trips to the top of the boat to get water for each elephant. Figure in water lost to sloshing and so forth, we are talking about 6-7 trips. Now figure it out for thousands (or millions of animals).
5. Incoming vs. outgoing. What about the animal waste? This stuff has to be disposed of. Toss overboard. No problem. However, someone has to do that work. This is a very large job at any zoo. That is with a smaller number of animals, more people, and a place designed to allow easy removal of the waste.
6. Ok, that is some of the problems with the mechanics of the ark. One of the biggest problems is that there is no evidence in the world to support a global flood. Geologists will tell you that the rocks do not show a global flood. A global flood would have resulted in a definate band in the rock and soil of the world. However, this band does not exist. In fact, there are some places that show thousands of years of clear history without interruption. There are varves which are annual layers found in sedimantary rock. They can be left by large lakes. They would have been interrupted by a global flood because that flood would interrupt how the varves are created. Also, the glaciers of the world show hundreds of thousands of years of history and they do not show any global flood.
Some people will say that god made it all possible or fixed it so that the animals just showed up or fixed it so that the animals just slept for the entire time and did not need to be taken care of or something else. I wonder what they base this off of. It is not in the bible. It is not written down in any of the ancient literature. As far as I can tell, the people are making up these stories to support the ark. That is not good research. If they cannot find evidence to support their story, then they will make up evidence to support their story.
Finally, if a god was going to go thru so much trouble to make it easy to take care of the animals then why not just wipe out the evil humans with something like a disease that only killed the bad humans. Much cleaner and would be a heck of a lot more effective in keeping the good humans good. I guess this god did not have that much power or something or perhaps this story is nothing more than a tribal fairy tale that was told over campfires and then over thousands of years became incorporated into a religion's background stories.
I love how richardz74 freely admits that there are errors in the bible. A translation error is still an error.

The physics problem would relate to the surface area required to maintain buoyancy of the ark with all those dinosaurs on board!
The math problem relates to how long it would take to board a pair of each & every species on the face of Earth.
Then there are transportation, navagation, and seperation issues as well.
Conclusion...impossible feat! It's a story that can't hold water!

He didn't have to have all the animals, just two of every kind. The earth was quite different before the flood, ice age, etc. and "getting penguins to the middle east (if that's where the ark originated) wouldn't have been a problem. Given the size of the ark two of every kind of animal wouldn't have been a problem, that's just simple math if you run the number.

The Hebrew had 2 words, which we equate as Earth.
One means a region on the Earth.
The other means planet or globe, as in the whole planet.
The Hebrew word used in the Bible is the first.....so a region of the Earth was flooded, not the entire globe.

Why do people constantly try to make FAITH fit SCIENCE? Once scholars labored over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Why torture yourself with these questions. All these questions that can never be answered. These are articles of Faith not science.

Fact: No one know what the world was like when Noah built the ark.
They could have have been different or they could have been the same.
Only God knows.
