EASY CORN ON THE GRILL
2 ears of corn for each person
1 tablespoon butter for each ear of corn
3 tablespoons crushed ice for each ear of corn
aluminum foil or foil pockets
salt, to taste
Husk corn and rinse. Heat grill to 350F.
Cut a rectangle of aluminum foil large enough to wrap each corn cob twice. Place each corn in the center of foil with the shiny side in. Add 3 tablespoons crushed ice and 1 tablespoon butter.
It's important to wrap the corn with the aluminum foil so that the edges of the foil are crimped and sealed securely so that as the ice melts, the liquid will be retained in the foil pocket. Make an envelope with the foil and double fold the edges, then place the seams on the top.
Place the corn pockets on the hot grill and cook for 30 minutes or so, turning over half way through cooking time. (Length of cooking time will vary depending on the tenderness, variety and age of the corn - some types of corn may be done in half the time).

If the husks are off, and it's a charcoal grill, I'd probably wrap in foil, but I believe others have done this successfully without foil. (I usually grill the corn with the husks on.) Husks on, or foil on, plan for a long time for the corn! I think a good 30 to 45 minutes. It's hard to overcook wrapped corn. It's easier to undercook it.

Yes you can wrap in foil since most of the husk are peeled off, ( if they were still on, then you would not need the foil.) Make sure you sprinkle with a little sugar and brush with butter before and put them on the grill. Fresh corn always takes a long time to grill, unless you like the vegetables kinda crunchy then not as long but if you like the corn really tender then you need to leave them on the grill at least a hour or more depending on the heat.

Wash ears of corn off. Leaving the corn still wet from the water. Then wrap the wet corn in foil. Making sure that the end of the foil is closed. Stick corn under the coals. Turn the foil corn 5 to 10 minuets on both sides. Keeping the coals always on top of the foil ears of corn. This way the corn will be charcoal grill and steamed at the same time. After 15 to 20 minuets take one ear of corn out of the coals. Unwrap foil to check to make sure that the ear of corn is cooked and NOT burned. When none, take all the ears out from under the coals and unwrap all the ears of corn and place on a dish with butter on top of the corn.

Grill method #1
If your corn were still in the husk, you would peel back the husks, remove the silk, butter it and then put the husks back. Grill for at least 15 minutes, turning often--remove from heat and cover with foil while getting everything ready to serve
Grill method #2
Grill corn without husks directly on the grill--turning often for about 10 minutes--wrap in foil and put back on grill for about 10 more minutes. Open and turn back foil to make a "boat" and serve immediately.

Remove the silk (leave the husk on) , soak in cold water for about an hour. Wrap in foil (you can add butter if you wish) and place on grill for about 20 minutes. I try to place the corn off to the side of the coals to avoid burn spots.

I would put them on the grill in the husk, while keeping the fire low as possible without going out. and turning the corn every few (15-20) minutes or so until done. By turning your corn, will help them from catching fire.
