Two weeks ago I posted what I thought was an innocuous question. It was "May I request help in creating an R&S community of Catholics and Episcopalians?" I got a good response. All the other groupings have a kind of community built up,even pagans. Why not us? Don't we have the same rights as anyone else? As far as my immediate motive,as I see it,when it comes to Christianity these fundamentalists have been permitted to dominate long enough; they hold themselves forth as the only "true" Christians; they represent themselves as the majority body of Christians; they presume to be the legitimate voice of all Christiandom,or even God Himself. I feel Catholics and mainstream Protestants need to become a stronger presence. Now,somebody - some group - obviously went to work on getting the question deleted, because that it was. There is no justification in terms of community guidelines. If there were,R&S would obviously break up these communities or cliques of atheists, pagans, fundies. Opinions?

Lots of reporting goes on here.. many people abuse that "report abuse" feature. Have you tried fighting the deletion with Yahoo?
Sometimes, they will restore your points.

Btw, there are no communities here other than R&S. It's a big mix of people answering all kinds of questions.

It's no secret that it's controlled by atheists. However I don't think your question was removed on the iniative of R&S. I think someone "trageted" it for deletion by flooding the system with complaints. Then it's automatically terminated by the computer with no oversight. However,I do wish to raise the question - since atheists hate fundies and apparently are somewhat tolerant of Catholics - then why does R&S create a situation where fundies can pose as the spokepersons for a highly diversified faith? I don't even consider them Christians to begin with? But I do like your idea of collecting us non-fundies Christians together into a mutually supportive grouping - not an us v. them thing, just a community within a community. I see no reason why we should not have the opportunity to create that. As to who targeted your question for deletion, well, the fundies had more motive but frankly it's not their style. Sounds like the atheists. Probably that Kjelstad since you're having problems with trolling by him.

I remember your question, and I told you that I thought it was a good idea. Yes, R&S has many people who are blatantly anti-Catholic and who make no bones about telling us that we're all going to Hell unless we leave our Church.

And like you, I'm tired of the fundamentalist faction acting as if they are the only true Christians and speak for the entire Body of Christ. I've been told here that I'm not a true Christian -- as if these people are speaking for God and have the keys to the Kingdom to bar whoever they please from Heaven!

Catholics need to take a firm stance here and start replying to each and every Catholic-bashing post. We don't have to be nasty or abusive, but it's time that we stop letting people say whatever they please about our faith without a rebuttal.

I've been around for quite a while and have seen no sign that Y!A is anti-Catholic.

I prefer all the religion and spirituality questions being mixed up with each other.

I think just by having to read a variety of questions as we look for something we can answer that we grow more knowledgeable, accepting and tolerant of people of diverse viewpoints.

Just like when you live and work with diverse people as opposed to living and working with similar people.

With love in Christ.

Fundie Christians come off as anti catholic. I'm not. Well after you blocked me I don't like you, but the rest of them are OK.

And what the hell do you mean by, "even pagans"? Do you realize how condescending that sounds?

Most fundamentalists don't like the Catholic Church because they think it's pagan and unbiblical. Not to mention the dark history it has had. I don't like it either. But I don't hate Catholics.

I'd hardly say this site is "anti-Catholic". You do whatever you want as long as you're not trampling on the human/civil rights of others, learning wisdom, compassion and altruism.

"Cliques" is an odd projection of perception wouldn't you say? Sounds rather worried.

No, is the Catholic Church pro-pedophiles?

Start a R&S community yourself or quit whinning. All Christians are delusional - you all believe in the same mythology even though you go about it a little differently. There is no legitimate voice for a lie. Get over yourself.
