It is not their ragging on us that bothers me, but the fact that I know where they are headed, and I don't want them to go there. I'm not so concerned about how to change their minds about us. I want to change their minds about Jesus. Not liking me won't send them to hell.

First off, I'm not bitter. And no, my life doesn't suck because I'm a non-believer. Actually, its just the opposite. I think that the reason some people are bitter toward Christians is because they were raised under a certain belief system and taught to carry a lot of guilt concerning sex and other "sins." And now that they have overcome the limiting beliefs that created the guilt, they are bitter with the religious institutions that burdened them with guild for so many years.
Why would you need to pray for me? I'm supposed to just accept you for what you believe. If you are going to accept me for what I believe, then why do you need to pray for me?
I'll tell you why. Because you don't respect me for what I believe.

Well, setting aside my alleged bitterness, I'm pretty sure I don't have an opinion about 'you believers'. If I want to see what someones like I'll check their earlier Q&As or, if they have one, 360.
I respond to individual questions. When I answer a 'Christian' question I do not intend my response to be taken by each and every other Christian to also apply to them.
I have Christian contacts and many whose beliefs I have no idea about. I just know that we appear to be on a similar 'wavelength' and I value their questions and answers greatly.
Believe what you want. Pray too if you like. I don't mind. Though I can't talk for all the other 'non-believers' here.
Peace.

Hi,
Absolutely: I agree: Everyone has a right to believe in what they believe. You, me and all of us.
I feel your question can relate to many other areas of life. Some will think one thing, some another. Some will live and let live, others will try to preach and convert. Whether you believe in God, astrology, have a passion about sport etc.
You say non-believers sit and bash believers, but so many believers think they must push and push and convert non believers for their own good of course. 'Not all' on either side are like that, as you say.
I believe in God but I'm not a Christian. I believe everyone has a right to their own beliefs. I will share my beliefs with like-minded people who can relate to my philosophies. I would never push my beliefs onto anyone.
YOu say non-believers are so bitter. ARe they? You're bunching so many many people together and 'labling' them. You've already said yourself 'not all non-believers' must be like that. I agree. And is there not a touch of bitterness in your question.'Why can't I just believe what I believe?' - Of course you can. Who's stopping you. Then you can leave those non-believes to believe what they want as you say. But your last comment 'and I'll just pray for you?' means you aren't leaving them to believe what they want are you? You can't leave it at that. You must pray for them because (why?) (they need it?) (they're sinful?) (they should be converted)?

Don't pray for me EVER... No you can't just believe what you want without me thinking you're weird or stupid. Some people believe that molesting children is ok that doesn't make it so. Some people believe their stapler talks to them, that's not much different that a skydaddy watching over them. Giants and people walking on water and talking forest fires and dead rising up again and pregnant virgins... I THINK NOT! How did black people occur and chinese and such if adam and eve started all of this? Why aren't the dinosaurs explained, why do we have tailbones, why if god is real doesn't he come down and stop all the religious fanatics from killing in his name? As for the dude right above me ... how could I forget to make that exact point... good call hoss

What makes them bitter about believers? History: the Inquisitions, witch burnings, pedophile priests... and a whole lot more.
I believe that "God" is the natural universe. I'm not bitter one bit. However, there are some of you that really are arrogant obnoxious jerks - just like some non-believers. Welcome to the human race.

Labeling me as "bitter" is rather incorrect. The only people I stand in the way of are those who use their religion as a means to an agenda that causes harm and suffering, denying people civil and human rights, etc. I don't "bash" anyone.

I believe totally in God. One thing to keep in mind about people who do not believe in a God. The majority of the time people who do not believe don't believe because they tend to believe they are in complete control of their destiny and the master of their fate. As a believer I know God exist everyday by looking at Gods awesome creation.

You ask that we not generalize all Christians as judgmental, yet then label all non-believers as "bitter," a little inconsistent, eh? Also, I have no problem with what people believe in, as long as they don't try to legislate their morality on others.

i know you already said this in your question pretty much. but id say from my experience non-believers and believers are about 50/50 when it comes to bitterness.
and one of the reasons non-believers don't trust religion is because.. lets face it over the years more people have suffered and died because of religion than any other factor. (except disease and old age etc... u know wat i mean) war and everything.
also people that believe in a specific religion are just believing something that someone El's just made up.. they don't think for them self's or make there own mind up about things.. and people that are that weak minded and that easily persuaded are dangerous.

There really needs to be a waiver before anyone can join R&S.
The reason atheists and non christians may care why you believe in god, has NOTHING to do with you personally (you can believe in a crossdressing monkey as your creator if you want).
It has to do with the fact that your beliefs in god are affecting how we can live our lives and the laws of our country!!
Get it?
Your beliefs, even though they are personal, directly influence my freedoms.
That is why I care.
