I realize many folks have limited experience with reading Scripture. My library contains over ten versions of the Good Book in 3 languages, Book of Mormon, Koran and other associated works such as "The Lost Books of the Bible". To take any of this reading as history you would have to read all of my books and more. And, finally, evaluate what you read. The Latin Bible fascinates me. It was the first. It doesn't begin to agree with any of the American Bibles in structure, content, or sublime meaning. Is it wrong to quote the Vulgate to American bigots? Bigotry originally meant religious intolerance but today means something else, almost racial.

I can only imagine two alternatives:

1) There might an English-only rule buried in Yahoo's Community Guidelines. If so, they don't seem to mind the Arabic coming from our Muslim friends.

2) It's more likely some ignorant Fundie reported you. Most of them don't understand that the Vulgate was the first Bible and that the King James edition wasn't published until 1611. Very few understand that middle English didn't even exist until after William invaded Britain in 1066.

Having never had a "violation" in here, to the best of my knowledge, I can only guess that one would come from a person who was completely (and probably irrationally, as in having no life) put out with something you said. Unless you'd truly earned it, by using profanity, or libelling someone.

The Vulgate is simply a Latin translation of the Bible, and therefore is less accurate than ones derived from direct translation for the original Hebrew and Greek into currently-used languages. But your quoting from it is not something I could even imagine your getting a violation over.

based upon the question, it variety of feels that some human beings on right here can not answer even an uncomplicated question devoid of throwing a biblical quote right here or there or perhaps taking it out of context so as to coach their concept. it somewhat is complicated to coach what's a standard answer, it may well be greater advantageous if a guy or woman responded, "in my humble opinion" quite than assuming it to be a standard answer. If I ask an uncomplicated question and get biblical costs left and proper, I only evaluate the source and forget appropriate to the solutions, yet while i'm getting solutions from human beings who easily think of appropriate to the question and would answer it even as thinking on their feet, I supply them a thumbs up. I supply thumbs all the way down to disrespectful persons, trolls, stalkers, people who only flow away an asterisk for an answer or people who thank me for the two factors. I gave you a megastar for the considerate way you published this question.

Its only acceptable to use the King Jimmy version since all the bigots here think that is the "one and only true bible" and can't get their mind around the idea that English didn't even exist as a language 2000 years ago.

It's wonderful that you found an area of study that really fascinates you--more power to you. That's what makes the Thinking world go round. For some it's birds or cars. I really don't see why a quote would be out of line..that doesn't make sense to me.

It is neither wrong nor right. Violations are the result of people on the site reporting you. They will do that for valid reasons -- or just because they disagree with you or feel ornery that minute. It happes. Keep yourself well-balanced in your beliefs (as you seem to be) and keep your important email address far away from this site!

freedom of speech..... don't worry I got a violation by some idiot who's a fan of the NY Islanders and I made a comment (non derogatory) about strategy in attempt to support the Toronto Maple leafs... go figure....

anyways, Knowledge is powerful, and some people just don't want their minds to be exposed to non traditional thoughts.

Aside from ignorance of their own beliefs, many in here are so emotionally racked, there sensitivity levels run off the chart. When they don't understand, they assume it must be insulting, so they hit the abuse button. Sad but true.

"Vulgate?" Is that like a Latin version of a stargate? Are you saying the original writers of the bible traveled to this planet from a distant galaxy? If so, that would be so cool.
