No.... that is the haters just trying to stir the crap up.

Now, are there isolated cases of rogue cops out there? Sure, but this is in no way wide spread.

Does law enforcement sometimes confiscate drugs? Yes. The drugs are locked in an evidence locker until trial. After the trial, they are destroyed.

Do they keep them for themselves? Yes. This is illegal and more than one officer has been sent to jail for taking evidence.

Are there police that look the other way while their buddies take the drugs and use them? Yes. Sadly, police are human too and prone to the same weaknesses. Sadly, they are in a position of authority and it makes their fall all the more tragic.

Yes, they do.

I know a person who has had to sell their car and buy a new one everytime his car becomes identifiable to the local police. He has a prescription for medical pot, and they keep pulling him over and giving him tickets, taking his dope and not reporting it.

This man is partially disabled. It costs him too much to be pulled over all the time, and he can't really file a complaint for the missing pot because there is an uncertainty between state and federal law regarding medical use of pot right now. He has to sell his car so that he can drive unmolested for a period of time. About the time he can get the junkers he can afford dependable, he has to sell them. The funny thing is that 2 of his cars continued to be hassled for awhile after he sold them!

Three or 4 different policemen have made a regular thing of supplying themselves with his dope, and I would be amazed if he were the only one. His problems with this began when he was listed as a person who had a prescription for medical pot, as required in the place where we live. They have a list of free pot suppliers: Disabled people living or dying in chronic illness and pain. Lovely.

At least some of cops do it. I would rather lose dope than be charged, or lose some unreported dope even if i was charged (then i had less on me, when i go to trial)... but harrassment for free dope supply is a real low point, and the officers who do it are no credit to their theoretical ethic of public service.

I handroll tobacco, and had a pre-rolled cig disappear off my dashboard by one of these officers while I was changing a fuse for my headlights. They did not bother to keep pulling me over, thank god. I guess they did not get the joint they expected. I had somewhat doubted the story of the man about these officers until one of them did this to me. I had just pulled out of a store parking lot, where the cig had been in plain view on the dash while i was in shopping... They had been in the lot, and i guess they saw it. Kinda handy i suddenly had a headlight problem, huh?

I cant believe that two people actually alluded to the fact that this does not happen...no names, just look for the posters with "experience". And just because there are procedures in place dont mean squat. If the drugs never make it to evidence...out of sight, out of mind.
The key here is that you said sometimes. For those two to think that it rarely or never happens is just plain stupid. Not saying that all cops are like this, but there are some in every city or county that would be on the take if it were profitable...or just need some more for their own stash

Absolutely I have personally had drugs taken my friends who smoked Marlboro(this was twenty years ago mind you and we were all minors well ok 25 years ago, lol), taken and mine being Camels got smashed, and not so much as one parent was called or one ticket written. they simply took it and told us we would get off with a warning and when I complained about them smashing my smokes since it was not illegal for me to possess or use tabacco especially if i had parental consent but rather only to purchase such. I was told to have my parents contact him but when asked for his name and badge number so I could do just that I was ignored repeatedly. So I am sure it happens how much is an impossible thing to say since the law enforcement community is made up of people not unlike ourselves there is no way of knowing exactly how many are honest and how many aren't, nor how many are hypocrites, lol.

England, seventies.

The only time, I have known this happen is when an undercover investigator, used it to set up (a plant via an agent) a target.

Then he got the ordinary Police to make the arrest the suspect who had been planted, but they messed it up, and these could not be told that the target was holding, cause then it would be seen to be underhand.

I know back in the day my brother got arrested for weed. He had three bags in the car, but only one was reported. The cop had to have kept the other two.

I heard once that sometimes they do that & then use the "profit" to give small drug dealers in return for the name of their supplier. I don't understand how that wouldn't be considered illegal, but that's what I heard.

Of course they do and not just drugs also large amounts of money and if you say something , you/ll probably be charge for possession or any other charge they good making UP stories and many judges know it and support them.
I know someone who had money in his car from selling good at a flea market . They stopped him , took him to a police car, stole his money and then they sent him back to his car and the money wasn't there anymore.

KCV if you're an honest officer you one of a million , and sorry but you can't speak up for all because you know there are many corrupted officers out there who abuse their authority position.

If they do...they're subject to arrest just like anyone else.

There is a very definite chain of custody and pile of paperwork when illegal drugs or any other property is seized or taken off the streets.

As a narcotics officer, I have to laugh a bit when I hear this same comment/question on a very regular basis.

My answer is simply this....my supervisors and superiors are welcome to search my residence and property at any given time and to drug test me the same!

Because of the nature of this job...I am drug tested by my own volition about once every month.

Most often rumors and inuendos of this nature come from disgruntled offenders who attempt to rationalize their own illegal endeavors by making outrageous allegations that officers use or sell the drugs themselves.

One thing is for sure....if given the information that an officer is doing this....I put him on my "target" sheet above all others as it's the slim number of those who make it bad for the rest of us!

Best wishes.
