It is probably just old age. However, if your hamster is young it might be from scratching. You may want to take him to the vet to check for skin mites.

My long-haired teddy bear also has the same bald spots & he's not old. Depending on how large the spots r & if they look irritated, u should also check for flea's. Hamsters can & do get fleas that may cause an irritation behind the ear's. If ur hammie does have fleas, just Google, "Hamster care," & u will find a remedy. Otherwise, don't worry, it is normal. >>>ZETA!!!

You can help by taking him to a vets - bald spots on hamsters are usually mites, which he will need treatment for.
