Your potatoes have to be cleaned and poked. Dry them off with a paper towel and preheat the oven to 350°F
Cooking time will vary from 1 hour and up depending on the size and quantity of potatoes you cook. The skin should be puffed up, golden-brown and crispy, and the potato should squish easily and be very soft on the inside. Careful, potatoes retain heat for quite a while

conventional oven: 350ºF 55-60 min.

mincrowave: HIGH for 9-11 min. (up to 13 min. for 4 at once)

**WOO HOO** Microwave oven wins!

You shouldl scrub them clean, either way you cook them. Just poke the one going in the m/w about 15 times w/ a fork so steam can escape and help cook the potato!

I prick them with a fork and bake directly on the oven rack at 450 degrees for one hour. Do not wrap them with foil or they will steam instead of roast. Cooking them this way makes the skin crispy.
