Lorem Ipsum - see wikipedia, is a way of filling a certain space with text. This is used e.g. in some software manuals or website editors to give a preview of what a certain lay-out gives as a result.

It is made to _seem_ like Latin, but most of it is gibberish. Some websites provide "Lorem Ipsum" for other languages, but they're quite disappointing because they use existing words... the original gives the feel of being Latin without meaning anything.

Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance.
"But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness."

This is Latin. It is used when designing layouts and what not because Latin will not be picked up as a language and cannot influence the code. It just fills in where text will go that is not written yet. Does that make sense?

The literal translation is something about on the ninth day, wings, pain, come up.. thats all I have. Sorry, I took latin MANY years ago.

What language is it? Do you know what language it is? You can use an online translator if you know the language. Here is a good one : http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html
