Nothing racist about it! We want the illegals in our country out of here! If you want the bullsh!t to stop, help us get rid of the illegals then! We just want our laws enforced. This has nothing to do with race with me!

Just to give you and insight why, within the last hour they announced the immigration bill failed. Within less then a minute the news media started talking about how it was going to hurt the Republican party because now Hispanics won't vote for them.
What they are saying is all Mexican are for illegal immigration because you think as a group mentality as a culture.
Unfortunate there is some fact to that especially when one is born and raised here and uses a hyphen for a race. Like you using the term Mexican- American.

You never hear the term European-American because Europeans from any country think as individals and their children don't take the culture of that country as theirs.

My parents were born in Europe but they came here to be Americans. I was born here I'm American nothing more or less. Where my parents came from might be my heritage but it is not my culture and doesen't lessen my feeling of my heritage, but I'm not going to wave it in everyone face.

My husband has many American friends of Mexican decent but not one call themselves Mexican- American and non have had racial comment said to them. If they did they would just laugh it off. Most of them would say they tan better. lol

You are either a American or Mexican it doesn't take away you heritage of being a Mexican or you feelings about it. It just defines you as an individual or a group.
Until you understand that you will continue have this problem.
Try dropping the hypen and if someone says racial thing to you laugh it off and come back with something cute.
Think about it.

They feel like mexicans are the problem and that they are taking something away from them by working meager jobs, not paying taxes, straining education and healthcare systems, and drunk driving. When it's really it's the government that is doing its people an injustice. Everyone was an immigrant at one point or another. Just like any other non-native amercan that came here just trying to make a better living and attain the American dream like everyone else. African-americans are the only exception because unlike other opportunist races that came here, african americans were forced to come here and have a nation of wealth, trade and enterprise literally built on their backs only to be cast out and barred from certain opportunities. And the way I see it part of this country was mexican land in the first place so they are entitled to ownership in this American dream. However, it must be done the American way which means citizenship and paying taxes. Everyone here can be a useful member of society and make this great country work regardless of race. If you are going to b*tch about something, let it be the government so they will feel pressure to do right by the citizens.

I do not think it is racist to ask people to come here legally. Further more what about the profound effect this has on the political, social, criminal, economic demographic of legal citizens and residence. I do not care what country legal immigrants come from. Just that they come here legally. How can you expect illegals to respect the laws after they come here. If they did not respect US laws to get here. Never mind the cost to the US taxpayer Federal/State and Local communities. Which some estimate to be somewhere between ten and a hundred twenty billion dollars depending on who you listen too. They all agree it is costing us financially. Just not agreeing on the number. These illegals pay no payroll tax, Social Security or Medicaid tax. At the Federal,State or local level. Yet they receive benefits the American taxpayer has paid for(Education, Emergency room care and so on). These illegals come from a country that is basically a narco-state. Instead of taking their own corrupt country back. They come to the US. So in essence they gave up on their own country. Come to the US to benefit no one but the greedy employer they work for. That employer is the only one who sees any economic or physical benefit. Not the legal American populous. What does it say about a people, who let their own country turn into a corrupted cesspool. Abandon said country! Where is the benefit to the American people already here. My ancestors fought their corrupt goverment to create a more perfect Union. If they had done as these illegals have done there would be no America. Are these illegals going to contribute to America. Or just do as they have done in Mexico. Nothing! They will not fight for their own nation. What make you think they will contribute anything here.
I do feel however legal immigration system, does need a significant overhaul. As legal immigration process is some what slanted to those immigrants coming from European nations. That being said, that is not excuse to break the laws of this great Republic.
Peace!!! Love!!! Happiness!!! Health!!!

Because many who have no respect for our laws and security and their own country use that as propaganda to further their agenda. They want us to continue to allow people to do us the dis-service of coming here illegally and having us pay the tab. The truth of the matter is, it's a matter of our security. Both economically and physically. They will never discuss the issue honestly. If I climbed a fence in any other country in the world, I would likely be shot. If not, I certainly wouldn't be allowed to work under the table, not pay taxes and utilize resources and benefits that other people pay for without even being documented. It has nothing to do with race whatsoever. In the case of Mexico, I welcome them. They are a great people and this is a great country. But, please come here legally and be a part of it, not a burden to it. That's the way the real immigrants did it in the old days. They learned the language and respected the laws. They wanted to be a part of it.

There seems to be a transatlantic cross over on here tonight. Anyway I can't see the issue being different either side of the pond. I can't speak for Americans because I'm not a yank, but here in Old Blighty immigration has hit dangerous levels. It's not racist to question the mass influx of immigrants into your country, it's just a cheap trick by liberal PC governments to use as a smear campaign. If you were born in the States, then I'm no immigration lawyer but I'm sure your American. It's the other thousands of Mexicans that waltz over the border that people have a problem with

Same here, I am Mexican American, and on YA, people told me to go back to Mexico. I can't even understand how they are that dumb.

When it comes to immigration, these anti-illegals are ignorant. THey completely ignore the real facts and pick only the trash to make all immgrants seem really bad. Then when you know it, it becomes a issue on how they hate Mexicans and how they want them all deported.

The same thing happened to My ancestors (Irish/Scottish) when they came to America years ago. It will pass....Provided the people who are immigrating here want to become Americians...not just move their whole culture here...and expect to be provided for/for people to change their ways for them.

People (in general) do not like change. Ignorant people like it even less.

I think a large ammount of the trouble is from a few points...

That the people coming here are >NOT< looking to become Americans...to integrate into our society, but to simply bring their's here..and be catered to.

That Many of the Hispanic community (And many others..like the libs & some republicans) see the Illegals as Victims, not as law breakers....and that those of us who's parents/grandparents/friends came in legally, are upset that these people (Who are breaking the laws) are being given "Guest" status...instead of being seen as the criminals that they most certainly are.

And Finally, that the Ignorant..on >BOTH< sides of this, can not see/act/talk/resolve with any clarity any of these issues.

T.S.

Ignorant people think that all people of Hispanic descent in the U.S. are illegal aliens. You and I know better. I think the big reason the Mexican-American population is targeted is because the vast majority of illegal aliens in the U.S. came from Mexico, so in their small minds it only makes sense that someone in the U.S. who looks and sounds Mexican must be an illegal alien. Great logic, huh?

1. What idiot tells you to go back to Mexico? You can't go "back" to somewhere you've never been?

2. Why do you call yourself a Mexican-American instead of an American?

mexicans aren't the only illegals, there are illegals from all over the world, the chinese come in thru the ports, people come here on visa's and then stay past their expiration, so ignorance does play a part, what i don't understand also is why people say i'm ---------- american, if you love this country and want to stay here why not just call yourself an American
