The government needs to enforce the laws that are already on the books to deal with the problem rather than argue about the ridiculous amnesty bill that (Thank God) failed.

So yes, if you are in the U.S. illegally you should be sent home forthwith with no chance to see a judge and your children are NOT U.S. citizens.

I am torn.

I am a US Citizen. My ex husband was at one point an illegal immigrant. His family came here from Costa Rica on a vacation and decided not to go back home. He was only 14 at the time, so it wasn't really up to him. I do believe his parents were in the wrong though. Anyhow, they ALL learned to speak English immidiately, and even went so far as to get a Tax ID card so that even though they were working illegally they could file taxes, (apparently the IRS doesnt care about the INS). When we married it took us 4 yrs, roughly $3000, and numrous trips to the INS office for him to get his Permanent Residency. The time frame for him to be a citizen? Their response was "Some people die wating." That was 3 years ago.

Now, they are saying they will grant all these immigrants amnesty? It just doesnt seem fair. We were out through absolute HELL to get him to be a Resident. We had to prive that our marriage was real, bring in all documents of our joint accounts, photo albums proving we had been living together during the time, even WEDDING PICTURES!! It was horrible. So, this just seems really messed up. Im sure their are other people who have had to, or are currently going through the insane system of becoming legal here, but at least they are doing it the right way.

So, how do i feel about illegal immigration? I think it is wrong. I think they are all criminals. I think that immigrants in general are acceptable. Hell, we all were at some point in history, but now that we have immigration laws they need to be followed and enforced. If someone wants to come here, to have a better life, etc, then come on in, but they need to do it the legal way. After all, if they dont respect out laws when they come here, what makes people think they will respect the rest of our laws once they are here?

do? well a problem have roots so. Start from the roots of illegal immigration so then find the solution for people immigrate legally and we wiil know who is here.
In a way is sad how MOST of people immigrate illegal to another country to be able to feed their family and sometimes up 20 to 30 years with out seem them etc.
So if is a way they will be able to go back home and visit family and knowing that they will be able to come back to work legally... I am sure that is a solution so. Who won't want to do that.
I know in fact that if is posible for people to immigrate to US legally to work then they won't be immigrating illegaly to US.
FINE THE COUNTRYS THAT LET THEIR OWN PEOPLE COME ILLEGALY TO US. Just because they won't do anything to crete jobs or some kinda solutions for the people not to immigrate illegaly to another country's.

There would not be illegal immigration if people had good economic conditions in the places they leave. Very few people are trying to enter the US from Canada for a reason.

If the governments in Latin America, etc... would get their acts together and bring their nations up to first world standards they would not have these problems.

The word is "illegal" for a reason. We need to enforce the law. People need to take a closer look at companies who hire illegals and fine them something like $1,000 per illegal. We need to stop giving handouts. After I got married, I couldn't get on my husband's insurance because they didn't want to insure me due to my asthma - a pre-existing condition, but how many illegals' medical care did I wind up paying for with the taxes out of my paycheck? Enforce the law and seal up the boarders.

We should enforce the border security tons more.

Get rid of the ones here, crime rate has drastically gone up mainly because of illegal immigrants.

I am not racist, but I can tell you that more than half don't belong here. If they want to become citizens they need to go through the proper procedure even if it takes years and years.

Nothing right now except get the government to close the borders, as Congress defeated the amnesty bill. Enforce the laws as they were intended to prevent illegals from coming here to live. The ones who are here need to be deported ASAP.

Enforce the law and increase legal immigration.

Well we could start with people who hire illegals. We could give them jail time and fines of 500,000 dollars each time that get caught. And we need the fence built. And then we need to make the I.N.S do they're job. That is just the beginning of what we should be doing.

Illegal means illegal. Which means that those who are in this country illegally, are law breakers and criminals. Solution: Deportation and massive wall construction.
