THATS MY RING!!! My husband bought me the exact same ring for me from blue nile!!!!! He got the princess cut. It is soooo beautiful!! 1 carat is a good size. Everyone compliments my ring. Good on you for finding the most beautiful ring around! Hehe

The ring you chose can only take 1.6 carat ring maximum diamond. The side stones are color G, so maybe you should get a center stone of the same color.
Assuming she expects 1 carat, maybe you could surprise her with a little more. You might consider something like this.

Like many things in life, size isn't the issue. It's the quality that matters.
You can get a really big diamond with visible flaws, cloudy color, and a crappy cut. Or you could get a smaller diamond that is nearly flawless.
Whatever you choose, it should have meaning beyond the "bling"; put some time and thought into it. If she's the right woman, she'll be happy with whatever you come up with because it came from YOU.

Well it really depends on her taste and the cut of the diamond? Give us some details and we can help you further. Does she like modern stuff? A solitaire? Vintage feeling?
The size shouldn't be what matters to her. And i really didn't care what size it was, I preferred he bought something he could afford and spent the money on a nicer (clearer and colorless) stone. Also something that suited my style.
More details and I can help further.
EDIT: Why in God's name would you spend $20,000 on a ring?! If my finace had done that I'd march his butt back to the store and have him exchange it for a small ring, and get back the money to put a down payment on a house!

Well, you've got to be more specific with a budget. A reasonable size is 1/2 a carat. That will run you from $700-$1000 depending on the shape.

A good jeweler can offer you a solitaire ring to use during the proposal, but will be happy to discuss alternate settings and sizes with you and your fiance after she has said yes.
Considering she'll be wearing it for the rest of her life, perhaps you should let her choose the setting and sizes (even stones) that she prefers.

between 1 and 2 carat is lovely. I do like the setting you chose. It will make the diamond you choose even look larger. Go with it.

Man, did you make her wait LONG!!!
Since money isn't an object (as long as you aren't buying on credit), the one you show is nice - I like it with an emerald cut diamond, or the round, regular cut. I'm personally not a fan of baguettes, or having diamonds channel-set, but that's just me. I like the look of a solitaire, with smaller shoulder stones.
Good luck!

If she is a small, petite girl, then I wouldn't go too overboard, nothing over 1 carat in a solitaire.
If she's not pixie-like then you can go as big as you think she'd be comfortable with. My personal opinion is though anything over 1.5 carat solitaire is not going to look believable and will have people wondering if it's real.
Good Luck!

I think you have made the perfect choice. But your cut choice of diamond will define the ring. I personally think the Round cut, Emerald cut, or Princess cut will all make the ring look evenmore beautiful. But whatever you think she will like best. Just please do stay away from the heart cut and the marquise cut diamonds.
