what did the romans use to patch the aqueducts?

i'm wondering about its composition, and whether it could be duplicated with common materials.

Lime and lead have been in existence for a long time.

They mixed a cement from volcanic ash. They did not know it was CaO which is now called lime. After mixed with water and allowed to dry and react w. carbon dioxide in the air, you make CaCO3, limestone.
