I got married just under a month ago and have had my dress hanging in the spare room. I am going to put it in the attic in storage but how should I pack and store it so that it doesn't get moth eaten or spoiled.

You need to call around to different dry cleaners. They do professional cleaning and then will store it for you in a special box. It usually costs around $150.

Have it professionally packed by a dry cleaner. They do such a beautiful job and it will stay perfect for years. It will cost you about $100 but if you want to hand it down and it was a designer gown, it is really worth it. Don't store it in the attic, it is too hot and the dress will yellow and there is a chance of moth holes and mustiness.

My mom stored hers in her cedar chest wrapped in tissue paper for 33 years and there was nothing wrong with it when we pulled it out.

My best friend's great grandmother's wedding gown has been handed down through the generations and altered by each one to fit their body and style. The dress finally met its demise when her aunt went and had it boxed professionally. They got a HUGE water mark on the dress at the cleaners and ruined it. Now my best friend is having the bodice and sleeves incorporated into a dress for her honeymoon.

Just store it like you would any other clothing or get rid of it.

.

place in a large box so No light can get to it, write in big letters the word wedding dress on the box then place in the attic and in a few years time when your going through a sticky divorce you will be able to spot it quick and sell the dress still in pristine condition. LOL

Im only joking but do keep it completely in the dark . or you can buy a wedding dress chest to put your dress in.

you can get your wedding dress preserve ask about that in a bridal boutique or the big name companies that make wedding dresses. My cost $120.00 for 25yr. they have different prices for for the different length of time you'll like to preserve, they place it on a beautiful box that will preserve it for as long as you want. If you just place it on your attic most likely it will be fill of moth, change color from white to gray believe me and it wound be as nice. One thing I forgot to mention ounce you preserve the dress you cannot open the box and if your decision is to open the box you would need to pay again to get it done

i got married last year, and had my dress dry cleaned, and they packed it in a special box made from acid-free cardboard and with acid-free tissue. It's very important to use acid free paper etc as this will stop it from going yellow, as for the person who told you not to re open the box, this isn't true-i thought it was but asked the dry cleaners when i collected it, and they actually recommend you taking it out occasionally so that the creases don't get permenent, just make sure you re pack it again with the acid free tissue, and lots of it!! It cost me around £130 to get it cleaned, repaired (I had a couple tears around the hem) and for the box and tissue paper, but it is well worth it!

Well, you can put it in your garment bag, or you could take it to a local dry cleaners and have it heirloomed. This way your dress is vaccuumed sealed for protection and you can include your viel, program, napkins, whatever you want with it. Personally, I'd sell it to a consignment shop so someone else could enjoy it, but keeping it around to look at from time to time is nice too. If you want to protect it and keep it in perfect condition for a future daughter perhaps, I'd have it heirloomed. It costs about $100-$150 but it's worth it.

at david's bridal they have restoration kits.... and all you do is send it in and they send it back to you in a box that is sealed and it stays perfect forever..... i had mine done about 7 months ago and my wedding was about a year ago..... i had a 60 dollar coupon from when i got my dress and i used that i think typically the kit costs 169 dollars. so hopefully you can find someone with a coupon or go pretend to be a bride again just to get the bag with the coupon in it.... most people just throw that bag away but it as money saving coupons that you don't realize.

Jonson's the cleaners have an package that they clean your wedding dress and box it neatly away the cost depends on your dress so your best bet is to tell them your dress was alot cheaper than it actually was so there fore it wont be that expensive

Take it to a dry cleaner that does wedding dresses & have it "preserved" - if you want to keep it, it's the only way, really.
