I wet the bet until I was 12+ (don't really remember when it went away). It got better once I didn't drink any water before bed (like an hour or two). Believe me, your sister is NOT trying to do this on purpose and I'm sure it's very embarrassing for her (it's my biggest secret). Even today I have issues holding urine during the day. I'm pretty sure that she has not been sexually abused--it's just something that some kids go through and it's horrible. It will go away with time--just encourage her to not drink any liquids several hours before bed and having a liner on the bed/special underpants (which I never had) sound like a great idea too!

Wetting the bed is a condition called enuresis. It usually occurs when a person's bladder is too small to hold all the urine that their body produces. Then, when they don't wake up in time to go to the bathroom, they wet the bed. The good news is that almost every person will outgrow this eventually. If you feel that she needs help, see your doctor. There are several treatments you can try-from alarms to help you wake up, to nasal sprays that reduce the amount of urine your body produces. There are a lot of things to try! Good luck!

If she's 12 and she's still doing it, it could be a serious emotional or medical problem and she needs to see a doctor.

you can't make her stop, in fact paying additional attention to the issue will just encourage her to continue. Put a plastic cover on the mattress, and make her wash her own linens every time she does it, other than that, ignore it, she will grow out of it, especially when she starts spending time with friends like sleep overs.

Make sure she doesn't drink anything when it's close to bedtime, and get your mom to get her some of those goodnight's underpants. That's exactly what their made for.

It sounds more like a psychological/emotional issue than a physical one. It sounds like a symptom of sexual abuse.
