Hoodoo is basically rootwork...using plants, oils, water, etc to bring about a desired result. The magic isn't in the spell, it's actually in the ingredients.

In your practices, do you utilize any rootwork similar to hoodoo?

I wonder how many nontraditional practices share this commonality, making rootwork a more popular and accepted practice than others may think.

I keep the two seperated, actually, the science part is the herbs and roots and natural healing, but I love the spiritual side too, the loas and the orixas--spellwork is also speaking to your subconscious and the higher consciousness that is your parent orixa

No, in my view magic is within the practitioner, not the ingredients. It's about aligning oneself with the energy you desire to bring to your life.

I do take echanichia for colds, though. ;-)

I know that some Green Witches use roots, if not all.

I can touch a plant and kill it, so I'm not an expert on that one.
