The only paper the vet is interested in is green with dollar signs on it.
Registration papers come from the breeder not the vet.

I don't know about registering your dog, but I've never needed papers to take a pet to the vet.

Vets do not need papers. You do not have to register him. When you take him to the vet...you will have to fill out paper work just like at a doctors office...breed, name, age, etc. That is all the vet will need to see. Hope this helps.

No you don't need papers, mutts don't have papers. Like in Michigan you have to have the dogs rabies done at a vet's office, than you get that certificate and go to your court house, and they register all the dogs in their system. If the dog is older, its nice to have the records for your own information, but if its a puppy, just call the vet you want to go to and talk to them.

If the dog you had bought is a puppy , claimed to be of high peigree , it is better to have the papers on ancestry ( atleast 3 generations) certified by a reputable Kennel Club and have your own dog registered in the same club. Laws and its enforcement differ in countries. In western countries it may be mandatory. It also helps in finding a good mate for your dog. You must always have papers on immunisation with the Vet's certification to satisfy the victim in case he was injured by your dog.-- Vanithasdad

You don't need papers to take him to the vet. You register the dog at the Humane Society. The only paperwork they will want is the rabies certificate.

The vet primarily wants you to have a) Animal b) money. (Maybe the other way around) All other things are subordinate. They would like to have papers but if you don't have them - you don't have them. They can tell you how to register the dog.

You don't need papers, an approximate birthdate will help however.
Just call the vet and tell them you have a new pup and want to make an appointment for a check-up and initial shots/worming.
If a dog didn't come with papers, there is no legitimate place you can get them, BTW.

You don't have to register him to take him to the vet. Registration papers are only needed for breeding and/or showing. The only they you will need to take is any medical records you got from the previous owners and a fresh stool sample so they can check for worms.
