If she has suddenly stopped using the bathroom outside of her litter box she could very well have a urinary tract infection. Add that to the change in her sleeping behaviors and I would be concerned. Call the vet and explain the symptoms to them, they are probably going to want you to bring her in.

There could be one or more of many culprits, and yes, you should be concerned.
1) What's new? Cats are creatures of habit. If the litter box was recently moved to a different location or if there are other things that have removed the cat from it's comfort-zone of familiarity, such as, other animals being introduced into the household or "it's" territory, this could be at least part of the problem.
2) How old is your cat? Just like humans, aging cats often experience declining health and the only indication may be that it isn't behaving as it normally has in the past.
3) Just because your cat isn't necessarily old, per se, doesn't mean it can't have health issues too. Our pets cannot tell us things like "Hey, i think i have a urinary-tract infection." Or "Please help me. i'm in pain and depressed and i don't know why." Not in our language, they can't. However, there are usually signs our pets will give us that all is not right, and if we know them fairly well this should be easy to recognize.
For most of us, pets are like family and equally worth the investment of taking them in for regular health check-ups. If you have a veterinarian, you can call their office and let them know what's going on. They will tell you whether you should bring your cat in for an examination. If you don't already have a pet doctor, i urge you to get one and stay up to date with shots, etc.

Another thing to consider about her not using the litter box is did you recently change her litter?? Some of these newer litters have a smell to them that the cats really don't like and they end up using "elsewhere" as their toidy.
Regarding sleeping. . I don't know where you are from (geographically) but here in the New England area it is just plain too hot and steamy. My cats are preferring to sleep on the cold floor then next to me. It may pass.
Try chaning the litter back to something that she was using before, it may help. If not, then I would definitely check with the vet.

My cat suddenly stopped using the litter box a couple years ago and started urinating all over my walls. She was also cranky and not herself. Turned out she had a UTI and they were constantly coming back, so the vet put her on a prescription cat food, just for urinary problems and she's been fine since. It could be many things, but to me it sounds like she has bladder trouble, get her check out right away because if it is bladder trouble she could develop crystals or kidney stones which are serious. Hope she feels better soon!

does she smell your couches before peeing on them? i now this is a weird question, but i ask because if so then i recommend you sprinkle some chili powder on the areas shes peeing on, so when she does to smell it it irritates her, and she will no longer want to pee there. And reinforce the litter box! when she pees anywhere else take her to it, make her smell it and give her a little spank on the bottom. Then she will know that the only place for her to pee without being punished is the litter box. Good Luck!

Yes. One of the first signs of something being awry with a kitty is a change in litter box habits.

if you're worried about health wise it won't hurt to get her checked out at the vet. cats are finicky creatures, believe me they can hold a grudge so maybe you hurt her feelings somehow and she has yet to forgive you.
