The drug used to put animals to sleep is actually an anaesthetic agent for horses and cows. Basically the put-to-sleep procedure it to give an overdose of anaesthetic - the animal literally falls asleep as the anaesthetic takes effect, and then dies while asleep. It is a very peaceful process, truly the best way to go. The 'first shot' people are talking about is a sedative. This isn't always given, just sometimes if an owner requests it. Is usually unnecessary, as a sick animal will not be active and will hold still for the intravenous injection. I've attended literally hundreds of euthanasias. The only time animal ever react to the injection at all is if they're old and maybe scared, sometimes feeling suddenly sleepy makes them feel weird and they might jump around a bit. The injection is so quick though - once it's in the blood (and it is injected directly into the blood) it takes literally seconds to take effect. There is no pain in the process, the drug doesn't sting. Chalice

If she puking because of an illness or disease? And by saying insane are you referring that to her behavior, is she a wild cat? If you think that she will not calm her ways down and the puking will not stop because of an untreated illness and she is suffering than yes put her to sleep. But if she is a young cat, than her insanity will become milder with age, and she could make a good pet for someone. Its your decision, make the right one, and ask yourself these questions....what is causing her to vomit, will someone out there love her for who she is, is she insane as is a young cat with allot of energy. Then make your decision whether to put her down or not. Just think how she would feel if she knew what you were thinking about instead of giving her a second chance...many people would like a hyper insane cat. Good Luck.

It's normal to not want to have to worry about your cat ending up in the wrong hands! but you have to remember if you take her into an animal shelter that they screen the adopters very well she would be with a good family. Either way i just think that she would be happier being able to live her life rather than to not be able to experience it all, don't you think? and if she is always vomitting i think that's something you should look into before giving her up. Do the right thing..

R U somewhat insane yourself? This cat needs to be taken to a vet to find out WHY she is vomiting constantly. You may be feeding her a food that doesn't agree with her, she could have worms, too much grooming and hairballs, any number of things. But this kitty deserves to live---if she is healthy. Get her to a vet and if this is the only issue you have with the cat, your problem may be easily solved. If you just don't want to mess with her anymore---take her to your local shelter and let her have a chance at life. Who knows? She may be adopted right away. It's surely worth a try rather than killing the poor thing.

Please dont do that! If your cat is puking it she is doing it for a reason. If you are feeding her bad cat food this could be why, or if she is long haired, that is the problem, or your cat is sick. Taker her to the vet and tell your vet how you feel. They may want a live in cat at the vets office, or they may know someone that wants her OR they may have a cure.
Please dont kill your kitty. You would be surprised but I was a foster at a shelter and it did take some time for adults to be adoped but they went to EXCELLENT homes! Some of them I talk to now and the kitties are spoiled rotten.

The problem here could very well be your cat's owner - YOU. Turn your cat over to the SPCA - look up your local chapter on the SPCA website.
Your cat's behavior and medical problems are most likely relatively easily solved. She needs to see a vet, first, but you don't seen to care enough to try to make an effort. You'd rather have the cat killed to lessen your guilt.
Giving your cat up to a shelter would be better than having her put to sleep, but giving her up to a rescue group or the SPCA would be better. Any person experienced with cats could foster yours and probably solve her problems before adopting her out.
PLEASE call the SPCA and surrender the animal. She deserves better than you.

take her to the vets and find out what is wrong with her, unless you already havent done so, and they have said it better to put her out of her misery but if u havent go to the vet's know, mayby she needs to be played with and has more nergy than you, mayby u could give her to a freind that has children so then they could play her. and if you put her in a shelter look at it first and see what state the cats are in until you find one that is perfect for your sweet little kitty and make sure other cats have gone to good homes from that shelter and havent ended up back their or in another one. dont put her down she has a life a head of her be nice.

Firstly she sounds like she needs medical help if she is going stir and being sick..she is ill.........
People in shelters love the cats they care for and give them to loving homes, she wouldnt be caged up, she would be safe, until she found new owners, who would love her and care for her
Give here a new chance at a happier life, you obviously have no time for her, dont put her down, unless under the advice of a vet.

Do NOT put her down..My grandma got two of her cats like this and they are not mentally ill. Its her personality and I personally have a cat with a very crazy personality that I have kept now for 9 years. If you dont want her then find her a good home, do NOT put her to sleep, that is wrong. That would be like someone saying that they didnt want you anymore so they would just kill you instead of let you go live with another family.

If there is no way possible to cure her mental illness ($ may be an issue here), then I suggest putting her down. However, if she can be cured ($-wise) than you can keep her and take her to a cat trainer. I know this sounds stupid, but my grandma's cat, Trey, had strikingly similar problems. My grandma took him to a cat trainer, and now he is perfectly normal. Also she may just be sick if she is puking. Maybe you should take her to the vet before you decide.
