Ya, I run distance, but shorter stuff like the mile, and 5K's. My worst fear is that I'll get some injury or problem that can't be fixed and I'll be done for life. Sorry that you're out. Keep exercising, though! You'll make it through.

Yea I just started running cross country. It also helps that i have a little talent and that makes it more enjoyable. I'm 15 and i usually run in the 18 minute area in the 5k. The first time i ran 6 miles with the varsity it was no joke but getting better at it made it more fun.

I am a distance runner that just got over horrible horrible back spasims after a long run.
I sympathise with you, back pain and running are a rough combination, I could hardly move and my spine looked like a big Z.
Hopefully you can recover and get back out there soon.

I just ran 11 miles yesterday and feel great.
Did the running cause your back pain?

yep, but just like 1-2 miles in track and cross country. oh and if running gave you your bad back, have you ever tried bike riding? that'd probably take away most of the wear and tear running puts on joints/your back. just a suggestion.

What's your injury? I have had bulging discs and stress fractures so I hear you on that. Good luck.
