My fiancee/wife (we're not officially married) plan on moving to either vermont or massachusetts to get married in a few years. Does anyone know a good jeweler that specializes in lesbian commitment bands/wedding rings? (she wants a platnium band with yellow diamonds all the way around. yes, it will be expensive, i know.)

Any jeweler with a decent selection should have something like that available. If what you're looking for is a gay/lesbian friendly establishment, your local gay/lesbian rights organization should have some information that will help you support a business that supports you.

Best of luck, and all joy to you and your lady.

"all the way around" is not a good choice because that means she will have to remove the ring to do housework and it could easily get misplaced, or if diamonds are on the underside they could rub or scratch something or even catch on good clothing. I never heard of "yellow" diamonds. I'm aware of the white and pink only. I suppose if you don't plan to get married for a few years yet, you have a few years to decide what kind of ring you want to buy. I don't guess I understand why you want commitment bands...Why not just buy two wedding rings or the typical male/female bands? Of course you need to know that a set should cost one month's salary.

I really like Von Bargen's. They are in Burlington...Manchester maybe?...Stowe? I have worked with the people in Burlington and they were super. They do not specialize in commitment bands but I can only imagine they'd be very open and kind. Another idea: Call the Vermont Artisan's Hand in Montpelier, VT. It is sort of a cooperative of Vermont artisans, including jewelers who make custom rings. They could point you in the right direction for custom-designed bands. Much happiness to you both always.

Your lady has great taste! I'm from the Boston area (metrowest) and I'm not sure of anyone who "specializes" in lesbian committment bands, but I do know that most of the jewelry stores in the area do custom work. The only problem you may have is finding the Canary Diamonds you're looking for, but a good jewler is always willing to work with you on that. My advice is to stay away from the chain jewelry stores, because they're less likely to do the custom work that type of band will require.

My advice would be to find a private jeweler and have the band custom made. A private jeweler is always your best bet for the best quality and price. If you do not find what you are looking for in a store, I highly recommend asking around about private jewelers in the area to get soemthing designed. That way it is incredibly unique and made to your exact specifications ( =

Congratulations and good luck!

Here's a site that will let you both design and create your own...Most of the work that you'll do yourself will be with the metal, but they have specialists who'll work with you to set the stones you want.

My daughter and her fiance are doing this for their upcoming wedding.
