We have res. cust. during the school year w/mom every other wknd. Mom has summer cust. w/us every other wknd.We went fishing on Father's day, my daughter called her mom and told her what we were doing. Before we got back with her she called the cops on her own daughter because she wasn't back when she thought she should be back. My step daughter said she wasn't coming back since her mom called the cops. My daughter is a great kid and NOT a trouble maker, so her mom calling the cops was WAY out of line. Her step dad told her to get the F***out of the house. Her mom can do nothing but call her a liar, she says that her step dad never said that stuff and that she lied about going fishing and that she is nothing but a big liar. They even brought over all of her stuff and her grandma told her she had no use for her. Now the mom is saying that since doesn't live with her anymore she has to visit every other wknd. Her dad and I agree that if she doesn't want to visit she shouldn't have to.

I would say that at 17 it could only get worse. Anything left of a civil relationship would only be destroyed if it is forced.

She needs to decide if she wants to visit or not and only when she does should she do so.

If she is forced to visit, she is being forced into a hostile environment. If they threw her out, they didn't want her there. The only obvious reason they want her there is to punish you and her father by punishing the daughter. They have misplaced anger towards you and her father and are taking it out on the daughter.

Keep her away from there for her own mental stability.

It would be a crime and a sin to force her to visit.

Best Wishes

That is a tough call. A parent or step parent can not through a minor out. They have to be 18. But it is reasonable that she shouldn't have to stay if she has other parents that are willing to take her in. I suggest you speak with an attorney to make sure, so you don't end up in jail or something. just for the added protection. Good Luck to you and God Bless

she is over 16 so she has the right to say no. i would call a lawyer and talk to hI'm/her about it. But im kinda going through the same thing. I'm 14 and i don't wanna visit my mom. but since I'm not 16 i don't have a choice. but my dads lawyer fixed that. now my mom doesn't have any custody. my dad has full custody n i only have to see my mom during supervised visits IF she pays $100 to the place that supervises.

no she shouldn't have to vist with her mom and no court will make her... trust me I know!! I went through that when I was 13 I didn't want to go over to my real dad's house ... my real dad ended up taking my mom to court and the courts said that I was 13 and could make up my own mind on where I want to be! so at 17 years old if she doesn't want to go vist her mom then she doesn't have to!

thats for the courts to decide since there was court ordered agreement regarding the visits. either u go to court with ur step daughter and have her weekend visits revised or you follow the agreement.

You guys need to go back to court and let the girl speak to the judge. That's the only way to resolve this.

You are right, she shouldn't have too. Considering her mother and grandmothers behavior I would see what her legal rights are.

She is lucky to have both you and her Dad to make a stand for her.

Good luck!

you're right she shouldn't have to if she doesn't want to.
Her real mom sounds like a Bit**. That's retarded calling the cops on her for something like that.

i don't really know what age is the age when a child is no longer bound by the custody law... but if it is at eighteen, then i would just advise her to hold on... it is just for one more year... then she'll be free to decide her own life

From experience, she is of legal age and can decide where she wants to live - even on her own if she wants!
