Because it is usually made with pinenuts and olive oil, it is usually loaded with fat and calories. There are healthier versions though.

If you are talking about the green basil pesto sauce then it contains oil, parmesan cheese and pine kernels so yes it would be fattening if you ate a lot but hey it's beautiful so have a little now and then.

It has fat in it. Parmesan cheese is normally a lower fat cheese. Olive oil is a very heart healthy oil. The pine nuts have oil content, but again, its from a nut, so better than meat and butter. There are worse things you could put on pasta or pizza. Most people don't drown whatever they eat Pesto on, so you are probably okay. Like all things, moderation is the key.

Kinda the pine nuts and olive oil are very fattening but the basil is good for you!

Mostly. There's olive oil, cheese, and pine nuts. That all has fat. The only good things in there are the basil and garlic. It's still awesome though!

Well, it is made up of oil (fat), pine nuts (fat), and cheese (fat). The only healthy thing in there is the few herbs. If you want a healthy sauce, go with vegetable marinara.

Absolutely not. It's very healthy with ingredients that's very good for you. If you eat this healthy all the time, you're bound to lose fat instead of getting fat.
